Purpose of Job:
1. To develop & effectively execute sales strategy to achieve sustainable growth in both the short and long term.
2. To direct and manage the sales operations of Yankee Candle to exceed budgeted net revenue and operating profit in China, including online & offline business.
3. To explore new business opportunities and manage the distributors/wholesales in line with overall sales & growth strategy within the region.
4. To develop, train and motivate subordinates to meet the above objectives.
5. Formulate plan, system or policy with team to ensure great customer service and support adapted to the China needs.
6. Promote a culture that encourages the passion & will to WIN, decisiveness, creative discovery, integrity, driving growth and open communication
Job Scope & Major Responsibilities:
Business Planning
- Build/Manage distributors relationships; develop sustainable strategies and business plans across multiple channels to consistently exceed sales targets.
- Develop and align the appropriate key performance indicators (goals) with distributor / wholesalers in market on specific business priorities & objectives.
- Work with distributors/key accounts on forecasts of product by line and by customer. Provide feedback on actual and expected sell thru of products by channel to aid with forecasting & planning
- Develop working knowledge and data on all applicable local regulations and compliance and work closely with marketing team and distributor / broker / agent boards to ensure compliance.
Sales
- Develop sales strategy and explore new business opportunities via Franchise Model, existing &potential distributorship, wholesale & retail channels to achieve the sales & business objectives.
- Closely monitor the business condition and sales performance of the accounts to foster business growth in terms of regular orders, re-orders volume and expansion in the number of high-quality point-of-sale in each region with China.
- Maximize ranging of SKUs efficiency at target customers and ensure listing of new lines/products as soon as they are available and/or in line with marketing plans.
- Liaison on contract, negotiate customer trading terms after agreement with management team. Subsequently ensure that the margin , price structure, markdown, allowances and promotional spends are within these agreed parameters and approved by the finance department.
- Ensure key drivers, product assortment planograms, merchandising mix and roll-out plan by account are in place. Liaise with store on implementing seasonal promotions
- Liaise with the Hong Kong regional office to ensure aware of successful promotions/ best sales practices in Asia and beyond and introduce these as appropriate in local market.
- Leverage relationships with Jarden’s network to maximize local sales potential if any.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with the key retailers and distributors as well as mall management for key shopping malls for the purposes of negotiating larger and better store space.
- Ensure features and marketing plan to support Yankee Candle product lines are well communicated to wholesalers and sub-distributors (where relevant).
Sales Team Management
- Lead the sales team to prepare and conduct seasonal buying meetings with the distributors and franchisees.
- Lead and manage the local sales team, merchandisers and promoters to drive proper execution and effective coordination of the approved sales plans and activities.
- Set objectives of sales personnel and develop them with the agreed sales plans and activities to exceed objectives.
- Ensure that all direct reports are well trained and highly motivated and coached to ensure customer service delivery is in keeping with Company standards.
- Ensure team awareness and maintain effective sales policies and operational control systems, i.e. sales promotional plans, planograming, trade inventories, salesman coverage etc.
Inventory Management
- As part of the management team, ensure trade and warehouse inventory levels are maintained to budget levels, and inventory mix is in line with customer requirements to ensure sell thru sufficiency.
- Work closely with customer’s/distributors stock control team to manage stock holdings, stock levels and ensure serviceability targets are achieved.
- Jointly plan and manage stock purchasing with marketing department to maximize sales while controlling inventory risks.
Distributors/ Account Analysis
- Prepare regular business performance report of each market.
- Based on comprehensive analysis of key sales data and competitor activity, provide market feedback to Marketing Department and take necessary action to ensure continual expansion of sales in key retailers & distributors.
- Maintain a updated and fresh perspective in diagnosing client issues to prescribe the best solution.
Financial Management
- Responsible for the overall account receivable and review periodically credit limit given to customers, make recommendation to Finance Manager for the approval of Country Manager.
- Assist Finance Department in collecting overdue amounts from customers.
- Ability to manage margin/promotional allowances within a budget by allocating to most appropriate products/ accounts.
- Utilizes price structure system to accurately establish and measure financial contribution with distributor / agent, increase efficiency with pricing and identify financial opportunities.
Requirements:
1 Education: Bachelor or equivalent experience.
2 Written / Oral Language skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills all levels including verbal and written proficiency in English and Chinese.
3 Competencies:
- Business Understanding: Strong business and commercial acumen. Experience selling in multiple brands/ high volume sku’s. Experience in managing a multi-location sales organization/operation.
- Work Effectiveness: Proven track record in achieving both sales and profit objectives. Excellent presentation skills. Able to work under pressure.
- Customer/ Consumer Focus: Exceptional ability to work effectively with people of large & established third-party distributor or retail organizations (domestic and international).
4 Experience
- Minimum of 5-10 years senior sales experience with branded or lifestyle consumer Products Company.
- Tertiary qualifications in a business related discipline.
- Min 3yrs leading, coaching, training, management and motivation of a sales team with a hands-on and engaging management style ensuring that there is recognition for their successes.
5 Professional Qualifications, Knowledge and skills
- Excellent planning skills builds and follow-up on plans to ensure execution
- Analyses problems & develops effective solutions.
- Excellent relationship building and management (critical) – a natural net-worker driven by communication.
