POSITION PURPOSE
Electrical Commodity Manager position required in order to help manage electronic component spend on various categories (logic, memory, micro-processors, FPGA, passives, crystals etc). Current electrical resources cannot adequately manage this component spend and we are seeing opportunities for additional cost savings that are not being captured. This position will develop and implement global commodity strategies. Lead commodity teams in the development of strong working relationships with EMS purchasing management, product development, operational quality, manufacturing, regional leadership, as well as the global supply base. Drive alignment between global supply base and organizational needs in technology, quality, responsiveness, delivery/availability and cost. Focus is on general plastic component commodities.
SUPERVISES
Team lead responsibility commodity team efforts across all Zebra locations including our EMS partners. Will also be responsible for setting the direction and locally managing our component engineering resource(s).
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL
Develop commodity business plans in response to business needs and create commodity teams to span across Zebra facilities and business units to drive global leverage.
Lead global commodity teams in order to achieve material cost reduction targets as well as supply base alignment in technology, quality, responsiveness, and delivery/availability.
Ensure the timely negotiation of all supplier agreements
Establish sourcing strategies that integrate Zebra's design and NPI functions with the preferred suppliers established for electronic components (ranging from memory, logic, passives, crystals etc)
Serve as the lead in all escalation/problem resolution as it relates to suppliers, pricing, lead time, allocations, product development, continuous improvement, time lines and contracts/agreement interpretation.
Drive the timely execution of early supplier selection into the product development cycle
Maintain listing of on-going cost reduction opportunities by commodity.
Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) with key suppliers, including on time delivery, turns, and DPM.
Direct activities as necessary of the component engineering resource(s) in support of the component qualification and life cycle requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or Accounting.
5 years of experience in the Materials/Purchasing function
Must have experience working with senior management, product management, development engineering, and finance.
Strong electronic and electrical commodity knowledge/background to include technology, cost drivers, global suppliers, and best practice.
Leadership capabilities to deliver results and to build multi-site cross-functional, cross-cultural teams.
Excellent project management and negotiation skills.
Experience negotiating contracts with electronic components strongly desired.
Knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
Ability to travel internationally 25% to 35% is required.
