We are now looking for suitably qualified applicants to work as a Librarian in the British School of Guangzhou.

The British School of Guangzhou is looking to recruit a suitably qualified person to help us to develop our school libraries. All applicants will need a degree and an good level of spoken English. A love of reading along with a desire to nurture a culture of reading within the school is an expectation. All applicants will need to subscribe to our ethos of providing a safe, friendly and organised learning environment where children can feel secure, happy and can enjoy being challenged.

The following are considered essential for all applicants:
A bachelors degree or higher
Fluent in English, both oral and written
Fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese
Practical knowledge of IT equipment and software to support learning
Ability to communicate clearly with pupils and others
Ability to lead tasks and activities with groups of pupils
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Good interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork
A friendly and cheerful disposition
A commitment to creating a well-organised clutter free environment
A positive approach to helping children manage their behaviour
A commitment to their own continuous professional development
A commitment to developing the use of the library as a community resource.

The following are considered desirable for all applicants:
A knowledge of excellent children’s authors
Experience of using technology to support learning
An understanding of library information systems
 willingness to lead by example

The British School of Guangzhou
The British School of Guangzhou is at the forefront of international education in China.
