THE POSITION:
Senior Human Resources and Administration Manager (station in Zhongshan)
THE ROLE:
The Senior Human Resources and Administration Manager will be based in Zhongshan. S/he will report directly to the General Manager of the Business Unit, and functionally to Director, Human Resources and Administration of the Group. S/He will work extensively with the Corporate and local HR teams as well as the line management.
The Senior Human Resources and Administration Manager will be responsible for the Human Resources function with focus on manpower planning, staffing, labor and industrial relationships, compensation and benefits, performance management as well as training and development. The role will also be accountable for the administrative activities within the plant in Zhongshan including security, dormitory operation, health and safety, maintenance of the building compound.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
? Ensuring Corporate HR and Administrative policies and procedures are implemented effectively and are updated to reflect changing needs of the business.
? Driving local HR and Administration infrastructure and operating mechanisms development to align goals, objectives and performance expectations.
? Implementing necessary tools, and providing practical HR consulting around local goals and objectives, and develop HR objectives for the local leadership team.
? Building and fine-tuning of HR and Administration processes, systems and broader infrastructure to support the management in Zhongshan.
? Actively participating as part of the local leadership team.
? Leading and supporting change management initiatives as needed.
? Hands-on responsibility for local day-to-day operations, and program implementation.
? Determining/assessing local capability requirements, and managing local talent acquisition and advancement/development programs.
? Liaising with local regulatory bodies for the development of policies, and ensure the compliance of local regulations and practices.
? Providing coaching and direction to the local HR and Administration team.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12-15+ years of relevant human resources and administration experience with a sizable organization. S/he must have good exposure to manufacturing operations in China. S/He will have solid business HR experience, be very comfortable working in a very hands-on operational role, as well as have the ability to look at the business from a strategic HR mindset. A positive, up-beat, motivational approach is essential.
The ideal candidate must possess solid implementation and people skills, and be comfortable with diplomatically challenging issues should they arise. In terms of human resources competencies, the individual will be a HR generalist with prior exposure to building systems and processes, driving and aligning culture, as well as hands-on experience in the key functional disciplines such as manpower planning, staffing, compensation and benefits, as well as training and development.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. S/He will be responsible, proactive, and a “self-starter”. In addition, s/he will be conceptual and analytical, as well as a practical problem solver. The appointee will display leadership abilities, decision-making skills, and also be a team player. S/He must be technically competent, possess a strong work ethic and be capable of performing under pressure in pursuit of results.
In terms of personality, there is a need for an up-beat, driven, positive and motivational individual. The individual should be mature and capable of commanding the respect and credibility of those with whom s/he comes in contact. S/He must be very willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved in detailed, hands-on operational issues. The person will be skilled at operating even without having all the necessary systems and tools in place. The individual must also push back as needed in a diplomatic fashion.
Due to the strong strategic focus in China, the personal must have solid experience and tracked good record in managing HR and Administration issues in China. Although not compulsory, there is a strong preference for candidates with Mandarin fluency.
All candidates will ideally possess some form of post graduate education, be computer literate, and be proficient in Chinese and English, both in written and spoken form.
