Job Holder: Product Engineering Dept
Job Title: Packaging Engineer
Based at: Gaoming
Responsible to: Engineering Manager
Purpose of Role: Packing Design
Responsibilities - general
1. Packaging Engineer provides technical expertise to Quality Department Associates to solve packaging related quality issues.
2. Provide imaginative and practicable solutions to a wide range of packaging issues.
3. Plan continuous improvement activities related to packaging.
4. Whenever possible and when cost justified, automate packaging.
Responsibilities – specific to
1. Engineer and develop packaging specifications for new products.
2. Improve packaging for existing products. Improvements can be made in protection, cost, amount loaded in/on trucks, etc.
Education/Experience
Must
1. 3 years of experience designing packaging for large consumer products, packaged in boxes, returnable racks/crates & pallets, shrink-wrapped, stretch-wrapped, etc. Examples of large consumer products might be grills, televisions, furniture, doors, windows, or other large skid-packaged items.
2. Significant experience in testing the integrity of various packaging options.
3. Experience in troubleshooting packaging failures and implementing solutions.
4. Experience creating packaging specifications.
Prefer
1. Bachelor Degree in Packaging Engineering preferred. Other engineering degrees plus experience could work.
2. Ideally, experience with automated strapping/banding & automated shrink-wrap/stretch-wrap machinery.
3. Automated packaging design/implementation would be a big plus.
4. Ability to design solutions on Autocad & Solidworks
