The Role and Responsibilities
Roku is seeking an experienced and versatile Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer to test software and hardware for the next generation of smart TV products. You will be responsible for testing software for formal release and validating the customized firmware. You must be able to represent QA concerns in cross-functional meetings by providing end-user feedback that improves the customer experience. This position requires good understanding of the software lifecycle, experience with a variety of testing techniques, the ability to quickly deliver a large volume of test results and strong written and organizational skills.

• Review product specifications and develop test plans for new products/features.
• Run automation tests to reproduce known issues and validate functionality
• Refine and develop test plans for new products/features and ensure adequate test coverage.
• Reproduce, isolate, and debug issues using a variety of hands-on testing techniques, providing detailed bug reports.
• Record all test results for each test suite and provide a high level summary for areas tested
• Assist in the certification process for partner devices to ensure compatibility with Roku
• Sort out defects reported from TV partners, suggest the defect severity and urgency with good knowledge of user cases.
• Coordinate the alpha and beta product trials as part of the QA process for new products
• Interface with other QA groups, hardware and software R&D groups
• 30% or less travel is required

Experience/Qualifications

• Over 7 years of experience in writing and executing QA test plans for STB/DTV
• Have Linux command line knowledge
• Python or other programming experience is a plus
• Hands-on experience with white box & automation testing is required
• Knowledge of media formats/streaming preferred
• Ability to work independently and be self-directed
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
