This is a multi-functional, newly created and very visible role for a growing, globally operating, German originated company in Furniture Hardware. Reporting directly to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, this role is based over multiple manufacturing plants in Zhuhai, China in which you will take responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of the company’s EHS management system.

Core tasks and responsibilities

◆ Responsible for the plants’ establishment of EHS management systems and official accreditation for ISO14001/45001, OHSAS18001 standards;

◆ Establishes the EHS organization, implementation, supervision and inspection of the company's safety, environment, occupational health monitoring, operation control, emergency preparedness and response;

◆ Develop the company EHS training program, provide periodic EHS training for company management team and frontline people; Create a company-wide EHS culture where ‘WE care for each-other’!;

◆ Establishes a system of periodic EHS committee meetings and ensures a close cooperation with a department managers on all EHS related topics as well as the EHS documentation system with procedures and standards;

◆ Responsible for organizing the management of Responsible for organizing the investigation, analysis, treatment and reporting of safety, environmental pollution, labor injury accidents and occupational diseases;

◆ Set periodic EHS targets for each department, incl. fire safety, labor protection, environmental protection and occupational disease prevention of the whole company, timely reporting major problems and hidden dangers and to make corrective action;

◆ Ensures that all departments and plants are periodically audited and present regular EHS Status reports to the management team as well as follows-up on audit findings/results;

◆ Performs thorough risk assessments on all EHS related topics throughout each factory and categorizes each finding in a risk-assessment and improvement plan together with cost & investment planning as well as the company’s before/after benefits;

◆ Collect all relevant EHS data and ensures compliancy with the company’s strategic development, as well as local and national environmental laws and regulations; Support the plants clean production and other environmental/safety related strategic efforts;

◆ Co-establishes and supports the companies sustainable energy development, summarize and analysis of company monthly/yearly water, electricity, gas, oil consumption status, actively propose energy saving measurement;

◆ Present periodic EHS status, sustainable energy report and improvement reviews to the Sr. Companies Management. Responsible for the establishment of the companies’ annual EHS report;

◆ Support the new facility project construction EHS management, and the design, construction, put into service of the new environmental treatment facility; Set the construction project Permit To Work, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety, Chemical protection etc. basic personal safety management system.

◆ Provides training company First-Aiders, security and other emergency personnel on EHS related matters and accident handling; Ensures that their official accreditations remain up to date;

◆ Establishes an EHS report database as well as leads all efforts to prevent accident reoccurrence;

◆ Communicate with government departments and each department within the company on health, safety and environmental issues in accordance with law regulations;

Requirements:

◆ Bachelor degree or above, major in Environmental Engineering & Chemistry, Safety Engineering or related;

◆ Certified auditor or willingness to become a certified auditor within 6 months, and/or very strong familiarity with ISO14001/45001, OHSAS18001 management system and accreditation with official governing bodies for such standards;

◆ At least 5 years working experience in environmental, health and safety protection management in manufacturing industry;

◆ Waste water plant, solid waste experience, and/or gas emissions would be a distinct advantage;

◆ Additional professional certifications in first-Aid, environmental or safety field and /or chemistry/laboratory are desirable; Candidates with JHA, LOTO are preferred;

◆ Excellent communicator and fully bilingual in Chinese and English in reading, writing and oral communication; German language skills would be considered as an advantage;

◆ Strong minded individual with a proficient sense of data collection and data evaluation;

◆ Sense of responsibility, attention for detail; Team player that can work with minimum supervision;

◆ Proficient in OFFICE software.
