About Us

The EEDP Program is part of GE’s initiatives to grow and develop technical leadership pipeline. This is a 2-3 years program committed to growing GE’s entry level, high potential resources – people with a Passion for Technology, a drive for technical excellence, business skills, and GE values – by accelerating their development through intense technical training and a variety of business-critical assignments. Edison graduates have the technical and business foundation to proactively and continually seek opportunities to make innovative contributions to GE’s future.

At GE , EEDPs experience different fields of engineering ranging from quality and design to reliability and field service. EEDPs learn how GE approaches the design of products using Six Sigma methodology. EEDPs learn to work closely with manufacturing and sales to integrate product designs with manufacturing processes and ensure that GE's products/services meet customer needs. The core engineering skills gained in assignments are honed through advanced courses in engineering. Corporate leadership courses are also provided. Experience and training combined with mentoring and counseling from assignment managers, prepares members with the technical skills and values needed to achieve a successful career in technology.

Essential Responsibilities

An intense two-year rotational program committed to developing entry-level engineers
• 3 business priority job assignments, each in 8 month long. Diverse experience may encompass: product service, project requisition, field installation and commissioning support, design/sourcing/ testing support etc.
• Complete A/B courses of wide business technology coverage with required quality rating
• Technical issue solving skills and customer focus mentored by engineering experts with reports and presentations to senior leadership
• Assist engineering operation e.g quality, technical repository management etc.
• Support other functions with sound Engineering judgment, such as ITO,OTR etc.
• Business skills developed in corporate leadership courses
• Six sigma green belt certification

Qualifications/Requirements

• MS or above in Electrical & Electronics, Automation, Computer Science and field related;
• Excellent academic record in bachelor and post-graduate degrees, in field of EE, Automation, Computer Science or field related;
• Familarity about basic electrical and electronic design, like power electronics, power supply, communication circuit, data aquistion and conditioning circuit, date processing HW……knowledge of product development process and prototype fabrication;
• Familarity with basic SW development languages, like C, C++, Java,……familiar with typical data structure and basic knowledge of design patterns, software development process;
• Familarity with common operation system platforms, like Windows, Linux, VxWorks…….
• Basic knowledge of remote I/O protocols, such as Modbus, Profibus, OPC, etc, as a plus;
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic system;
• Experience of common PLC product, like SIEMENS 7, Rockwell AB, GE MARK Vie, as a plus;
• Basic knowledge of control theories, experience of mech-hydraulic control is preferred;
• Industry related project experience in post-graduate dissertations;
• Technical document writing experience;
• "Can do" attitude, embrace challenge with enthusiasm;
• Quick learner, self-driven;
• Familiarity with MS Office applications and CAD systems;
• Fluent English, spoken and written, colloquial and technical;
• Able to travel as needed.
