Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
Provide strong leadership to the quality engineering in operating with the highest level of efficiency and integrity, striving to achieve excellence in all endeavors.
Provide representation for, and be the voice of, internal and external customers.
Maintain a “quality first” mentality and develop it in others.
Provide and Drive Proactive actions and counter measures so as to enable processes for upfront optimized performances and quality rather than tactical dive and catch.
Driving excellence in quality engineering function performance and supporting organizational growth by facilitating best practices and methodologies across all Jabil sites through development and implementation of Global Quality Processes, procedures, Product Capability Projects, deployment of quality tools and techniques and the Jabil culture as appropriate.
Supports standardization across each of Jabil’s manufacturing facilities worldwide and supports the efforts to transfer the ownership and accountability for Quality into the appropriate functions through excellence in education, training, the Quality tool set and continuous improvement.
Driver for championing Quality objectives, resulting in the implementation of standardized best practices, which are designed to deliver superior quality performance and operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of quality engineering projects, global capability program and quality mentoring within Jabil’s manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities will be divided into 4 primary project categories :
o Number 1: Deployment of Quality tools ( Ex. FMEA, 3 Way 5 Why, CAPA, Lean thinking & manufacturing, etc.) on active manufacturing projects.
o Number 2: Customer driven quality improvement projects
o Number 3: Global Product capability program
o Number 4: Global Best practice implementation generated by items 1 – 3 above
Enhance the capability of the quality engineering by providing technical and administrative support to engineering group on improving quality and yield of the product.
Carry out experimentation, process capability studies, or other technical evaluation to improve yield and quality. Guide and advise the quality engineers, process engineers, technical engineers.
Identify and implement new product capability improvement practices and processes that are “best in class.”
Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
Lead key customer quality improvement projects with Jabil Functional Teams
Train manufacturing sites on both fundamental quality tools ( Root cause analysis, 3 Way 5 Why, 5 Ms, CAPA, FMEAs) and progressive tools ( tools within the Lean 6 Sigma family : MSA, DOEs, hypothesis testing, mistake proofing)
Develop a platform to share within each Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are both shared and implemented throughout the Jabil organization within boundaries of confidentiality approved by customers.
Ensure 100% adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. Health and Safety, Quality).
Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately.
Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
Develop, motivate and challenge all team members to perform to their full potential, providing direct and timely feedback in formal and informal media.
Monitor and evaluate the level of involvement and success of the Quality Engineering activities and their impact on the continuous improvement of process yields and efficiencies. Provide the appropriate level of feedback, support and coaching.
Provide support to the BUM and maintain an active role in quality engineering functions. Monitor the product acceptance levels (yield) as seen by the customer and ensure that appropriate preventative measures are taken in manufacturing site.
Lead and guide the Quality Engineering section in operating with a high level of efficiency, integrity and enthusiasm, striving to achieve excellence in all endeavors. Creative, proactive and focus on continuous improvement.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Quality Management Tools, Quality Analytics Tool.
Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.
Strong and convincing communication skills.
Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.
Proven in developing Dashboards for sharing productivity projects and cost trend.
Bachelor's Degree required.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in manufacturing operations and quality environment, including at least 8 years in a supervisory role required.
Expert knowledge of quality tools (SPC, FMEA, DOE, CAPA, APQP, DMAIC, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven Lean implementation experience in a mechanical manufacturing environment.
Proven results leading quality engineering projects internationally, including Asia, Europe and North America.
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and
legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to all levels of the internal organization and associated outside organizations.
Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.
Foreign language experience preferred especially English in both written and spoken
Ability to turn strategic initiatives into working processes and policies for the Quality Engineering function.
