Role Summary/Purpose

The Sr. Field Support Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site GE representative and provide program management on assigned GE Aviation program(s) or customer(s)
• Provide strategic technical leadership related to customer issues, driving change across the organization
• Provide program leadership, technical recommendations, and direction to the customer and other GE personnel in the operation, inspection, maintenance, modification, and repair of assigned GE Aviation product lines
• Regarded as an “Expert” in proper operation, maintenance, and trouble-shooting multiple types of commercial aircraft engines and ground support equipment, including the use and proper interpretation of data and technical instructions.
• Provide senior counsel regarding decisions affecting time on wing, engine removals, and overall fleet management.
• Apply 6 Sigma analytical tools to influence the customer with decisions related to proactive reliability, fleet management and reducing cost of ownership.
• Provide technical/operational leadership and mentorship to team members
• Review effectiveness of maintenance actions to identify customer training needs
• Assist the factory with field data collection and timely reporting of fleet performance, including marketing intelligence and sales opportunities for services and support
• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with policies and procedures
• Assist customer with spare parts ordering, issues resolution, and provisioning
• Develop and use metrics to achieve program goals
• Conduct technical reviews internally and/or at customer and industry meetings
• Occasional travel may be required

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a field service or maintenance position)
• At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering or aviation maintenance role

Desired Characteristics

• At least 10 years of experience in an aviation field service or aviation maintenance position
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred
• Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Demonstrated analytical and quality improvement ability
• Demonstrated technical expertise in engine repair, troubleshooting, shop operations, and testing
• Demonstrated understanding of the financial/commercial impact of technical solutions
• Ability to make formal presentations to all levels of the organization, customers and peers
• Able to work with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management
• Demonstrated use of project management skills and metrics to achieve program goals
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and influence customer and peers
• Ability to work across global teams
• Fluent in English – proficiency in German and French preferred.
• Significant experience with customers and airline or corporate jet operations.
