Role Summary/Purpose

The Designer’s primary responsibility is to provide industrial design support for GE Healthcare’s New Product Introduction programs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conceptualizing, generating and evaluating product designs including such components as system enclosures, controls & displays, patient positioners, and other hardware design components • Address usability issues related to product design and product usability (end-users/ technologists, service, patients, etc) • Develop brainstorming sessions, visual designs, conceptual models, user scenarios, ergonomic studies, and 3D prototypes to contribute to the milestone phases of Business Partners’ NPI activities • Mentor & support Business Partners in the application of product design and usability • Provide CAD/ digital configuration for all design proposals as part of implementation process • Be an active contributor in field studies, usability tests, focus groups, Medical Advisory Boards, customer surveys, and other user centered design methodologies • Work collectively with global design staff to deliver state of the art design solutions that reflect design policies

Qualifications/Requirements

Quality Specific Goals: 1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position 2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines 3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required 4. Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables 5. Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible Qualifications: 1. BA/BS Degree in Industrial Design 2. 2-5 years professional industrial design experience 3. Strong 2D conceptualization, 3D, CAD, graphic, verbal & written communication skills 4. Demonstrated ability to produce visual concepts, create prototypes, and deliver requirements for mechanical engineering team 5. Demonstrated ability to deliver results Preferred Qualifications: 1. BFA degree in Industrial Design (minor in graphic design) 2. 1-3 years experience in medical design or related field 3. Strong command of SDRC, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash 4. Command of fabrication tools necessary to product full size and scale models of design solutions. This should include all wood working tools, foamcore fabrication techniques, plastic fabrication, and painting color study models
