Role Summary/Purpose
The Executive Counsel, Litigation and Investigations for Asia will serve as GE’s lead lawyer on investigations, lawsuits and enforcement proceedings in Asia.

Essential Responsibilities
Counsel will be responsible for overseeing GE’s investigative and litigation activities across the Asia Pacific region. Counsel’s responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing significant investigations throughout Asia, in close coordination with lawyers for GE’s businesses in the region and Corporate Litigation

• Delivering regular communications and training on improper payments and other enforcement issues of particular significance to GE’s operations in Asia

• Developing litigation capabilities throughout Asia – establishing a network of the best “go to” outside counsel, developing litigation “toolkits” for GE’s most significant jurisdictions, overseeing discovery processes and representing GE at judicial and other professional conferences regarding litigation issues

• Overseeing arbitrations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution throughout Asia – formulating optimal agreements and ground rules (e.g., choices of law), identifying and maintaining precedent about the most qualified panelists and representing GE at industry ADR conferences

• Assisting compliance leaders, audit staff and ombuds leaders in identifying compliance issues and trends and implementing training initiatives

• Spearheading special projects (e.g., post-acquisition integration) as needed

Qualifications/Requirements
• J.D. or equivalent law degree from recognized international institution

• At least 10 years of practice in common law and civil law jurisdictions; significant experience in Asia a plus
• Proven record in FCPA and other anti-corruption investigations and strong familiarity with government enforcement priorities throughout Asia

• Prior in-house experience with demonstrated ability to manage complex investigations and litigation a plus

• Proven proficiency in electronic discovery management

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of a multi-national organization

• High level of cultural sensitivity, patience, flexibility and emotional intelligence in order to work effectively within GE’s multicultural environment

• Fluency in Chinese strongly desired
