Summary of the Role

Digital modeler develops Design Digital Shape Models (DSM) for all projects assigned for China Operations. The development work is done in close cooperation with Design in Gothenburg.

Main responsibilities

· Digital modeling of all visible exterior and interior surfaces in Alias or Icem-Surf. Using measuring points from physical models, sketches from designers or verbal instructions.
· Take responsibility for the quality of the digital surface model in respect to surface quality design intent and technical content.
· Together with the studio engineer and designer agree the status of the DSM in virtual reviews
· Take responsibility that the DSM model is delivered in time and according to Volvos standard.
· Visualization of DSM-models.

Academic Qualifications Required: University Degree
Experience Required: at least 5 years experience
Competencies: Very good skills in Alias or Icem Surf and at least 5 years experience
Basic skills in CATIA V5
Very good skills in surfacing methods and techniques.
Good skills in visualization of DSM for design reviews.
Documented experience Class-A Surfacing
Strong in relationships, own development and strong communication skills.
Good knowledge of English
Understand how the shape of a part has implications on appearance.
Understand design sketches and to translate the designer's intents into a DSM.
Judge timing for creation of DSM.
Understand and apply the requirement for the DSM deliveries regarding tolerances, surface quality and technical content.
Understand and apply technical information from drawings and package models into DSM.
Understanding how tools impacts the DSM.
