Job Summary and Mission
This job contributes to Starbucks success by performing complex accounting functions associated with the followings: ensure timely, accurate and complete accounting records including fixed assets, step rent and lease related expenses, monthly analyze the financial statements and reports on relative accounts, system and process enhancement support and documentation, together with partner training, continuous process improvements within the team and cross functions, lead and participate lease & fixed assets related system/projects, risk control and cooperate with auditors for various audits including statutory, SOX, tax, store sales and internal audits, assist internal customers in interpreting financial reports. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include CASC accounting function of General Ledger:
Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
- Identify, recommend and implement solutions in with consultations with Team Supervisor, Team Manager and/or Process Architect Team.
- Support new and existing team members through proper knowledge transfer, sharing of resource, knowledge and experience and best practice thereby ensuring quality is maintained through all partners transitions
- To assist and support local, regional and/or global project improvements
Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
- Execute work in accordance with the service management framework by providing timely and accurate customer service
- Ensure all service request are processed according to established work instruction and ensure the accuracy and the completeness of the service request processed
- Review backlog and cycle time reports to improve process flow times
- Minimize number of service request escalations by ensuring all service requests are processed within the agreed service timelines
- Ensure customer queries are attended to and resolved in a timely, responsible and proactive manner
Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
- To accurately process all accounting service request within the given timeframe
- To attend emails sent to the service delivery common mailbox for accounting information/service request. All attended mails should be classified correctly to respective folders accordingly.
- To follow up on rejected service request accordingly, reason should be clearly identified and invalid rejection
- To monitor and process urgent requests before the specified deadline
- To ensure compliance to company policies, legal and statutory requirements, including GAAP and SOX regulations.
- To act as a backup, assist and perform other accounting tasks as company/management and changing business environment may require to perform

Detailed Task:
Detailed tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Monthly closing check on FA, step rent and other rental related accounts.
- Support FA under the global share service model, guidance and frame work, supervise subordinate on routines such as:
1) Review FA related ADI, FA movement both in US GAAP and China GAAP for the long-term assets such as FA, CIP, IA, etc, US LHI useful life change check.
2) Provide FA/CIP variation analysis for long-term assets movement and accrual
3) China GAAP FA adjustment check and review, such as store license fee, computer etc.
4) Communicate and coordinate with US capital accounting team, capital finance team, and China regional accounting team, China local team, etc.
5) Follow FA related flow & policy and share with cross function team, draft FA related memo, work procedure if necessary.
- Supervise subordinates on monthly step rent review and lease expenses analysis
1) Store status check, step rent balance check and ARO JE review
2) LAS (lease accounting system) interface to REALM(US lease system) review
3) Lease expense analysis on each account by legal entity and variances explanation
4) LAS master data review , monthly sales validation and act as system admin
5) Lead system upgrade and interface with other systems
6) Review and monitor the monthly/quarterly Blackline reconciliations
7) Quarterly Affiliates Part III-Lease&Capital accrual review
8) Support cross-function teams to understand financial impact on leases
- Capital related payment check
1) Review payment request from SD construction team including all FA related expenditure and maintenance & repair expense
2) Communicate with SD construction team on system, process changes
3) VAT reconciliation adjustment review and check
- Participate in other projects and assignments as needed to support the goals of the team.
- Prepare and maintains assigned balance sheet and income statement account analysis on a monthly basis. Prepare required adjusting journal entries as necessary.
- Own the respective controls within Lease and Capital accounting (L&C).
- Coordinate with internal and external audit to ensure no findings, including statutory, SOX, store sales and tax audit.
- Other assigned work under L&C team

Summary of Experience
- Big 4/ Consulting firm/Shared service center experience preferred - 4 years+
- Assistant manager/Supervisor in GL, FA or AP at a professional level, including journal entries, account reconciliation and analysis – 3 years+
- In area of specialization (e.g. step rent, FA, AP ) – 3 years+
- Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or equivalent work experience
- Foreign-owned retail enterprise working experience preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Good customer service mindset and communication skill
- Performance and target driven
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadline and SLA requirements
- Ability to work in a standardized environment with occasional variables
- Able to support low to medium complexity tasks and assist on small to medium sized project initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to understand broad business and financial issues
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in Chinese and English
- Attention to detail
- Ability to interact with a variety of people at all organizational levels
- Experience with general ledger systems (e.g. Oracle, HFM, Blackline or other ERP)
- Ability to prioritize and document work performed
- Advanced analytic skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
