PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE:

-The Technical Specialist, AIS–Middleware will be responsible for providing Level-1 and Level-2 technical and project support services for the FIL wide enterprise. Typically this will include supporting the Application and Web server infrastructure and connected supporting technologies. This involves identifying production / pre-production issues before they occur, working on incidents, problems tickets, service requests and

change related activities -The role demands exceptional technical skills with a focus to build, support and

manage the Application Server, Web Server technologies. The role involves working as a member of a global team with a follow the sun model

-At this level the individual is expected to keep abreast of the latest technology developments in order to

provide trusted advisor services to colleagues and customers.

-The role will involve providing 24x7 support as part of a team rota and some weekend working

-The common written and spoken language of the worldwide team is English.

YOUR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

-The key responsibilities of this role are:

-Support of the Application Server and Web Server infrastructure for all FIL environments

-Support the release of new code and artefacts to environments during business and non-business hours.

-Liaison with vendors for product related issues

-Rapid response to / and escalation of high severity incidents ?Proactive issue detection / service monitoring

-Service restoration subsequent to any unanticipated outages / disruptions

-Incident management, root cause analysis, problem determination and resolution

-Identification of infrastructure and application related service improvements

-Providing advisory services to the FIL wide Technology teams

-Requirements gathering for new projects and working on implementation planning with the development and release

implementation teams ?Provision of technical support on a shift / on call / rotational basis

-Escalation as necessary to secure assistance / technical guidance from other Technology teams

-Support and planning of infrastructure upgrades and patching ?Automation and process improvement.

Your skills and experience:

-Extensive domain level knowledge and real world experience of building, supporting and managing Application and

Web Server technologies ?Excellent UNIX and scripting skills

-Previous experience of providing technical support in a global operating environment

-Proven experience of working within a fast moving and flexible environment

-All round interest in Middleware technologies

-Real experience of coordinating multiple technical teams to investigate and resolve problems

-Experience or working with third parties and vendors to resolve complex technical problems and underpin service

provision ?Knowledge of project management methodologies

-Ability to coach team members in supported technologies and processes.

Technical expertise:

A minimum of 5 years of real work experience in a complex application infrastructure support environment.

-Extensive experience of supporting IBM WebSphere Application Server

-Knowledge of IBM I.H.S Web Server (or Apache)

-Experience setting up and managing MQ or JMS connections from an Application Server.

-Working knowledge of JBoss and/or WebLogic expected.

-Broad understanding of major Operating Systems including RHEL, AIX, Solaris and Windows.

-An understanding of Database technologies. ?Hands-on UNIX skills.

-Shell script development experience.
