Department Overview:
The Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten. We are a cross-functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across five countries: Japan, Singapore, India, China and UK.

GATD provides services on a comprehensive advertising platform, and its customers include Rakuten Ichiba stores, major companies operating in Japan and overseas, and foreign-affiliated companies.
Our team aims to build a professional program management group to ensure high quality project delivery and elevate our capabilities of project management to enhance project success rate. Promoting excellence in project management practices across different product teams.
In this team, you can learn a wide range of Ads services and participate in the full life cycle of business system development projects delivery that supports the corporate advertising business.

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager with 2-3 years of experience who is ready to make an impact in a dynamic and innovative environment. As a Project Manager, you will have the unique chance to work with cross-functional teams to deliver projects together. You will be an integral part of our project management team, driving the execution of software development projects from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams of product managers, project managers, developers, and testers to ensure the successful delivery of software development projects.
Foster clear and effective communication among team members and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned with project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Assist in the planning, organizing, and execution of projects, following established methodologies and best practices.
Assist in tracking project progress, costs and scope changes, identifying risks and issues, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
Assist in conducting project meetings, documenting meeting minutes, and following up on action items.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
2~3 years’ experience in Project management, preferably within the software development industry.
At least 1 year programming hands on experience, like Java, Golang, etc.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Warm character and strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Solid understanding of software development methodologies, processes, and tools.
Practical experience in project management software and tools (e.g. JIRA, Trello, Microsoft Project, etc.)
Experience working directly with software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
Experience in working in cross-cultural development teams.
Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in project management (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP)
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
Experience in using collaboration and communication tools (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Confluence)
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and associated tools (e.g. Git, continuous integration)
Japanese speaking in conversation level is a plus.
