Purpose of Role:

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for executing Asia supply chain strategies for assigned projects that deliver industry-leading, on-time delivery, lead-times, product quality, total cost, and cash flow.

Responsibilities

1. Execute Asia procurement strategies. This position will mainly focus on China and the rest of Asia, will support other areas of the world as required.

    

2. For assigned projects, support AMOT objectives for Material Cost Reduction, Supplier OTD, Inventory Reduction, Supplier Quality, and Supplier Lead Times. This would include actions to rationalize the supply base, drive increased sourcing from low cost sources, and negotiate & implement Supplier Agreements.

    

3. Establish and facilitate strategic teams to leverage supplier capabilities in product design, cost reduction, lead time reduction and customer satisfaction.

    

4. Work closely with the manufacturing and engineering teams to proactively identify and develop external capability to support strategic out-sourcing opportunities.

    

5. Obtain competitive bids, analyze costs and negotiate/award contracts to vendors on the basis of total costs to the company commensurate with financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.

    

6. Leverage technology solutions to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the strategic sourcing process.

    

7. Drive increasing inventory turns by developing, implementing and managing innovative material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanbans, vendor managed inventory and supplier consignments.

    

8. Develops, manages, and accountable for all aspects of the Supply Quality Management System. Develop objective supplier performance data and metrics to drive continuous improvement in the supply base.  Focus on lead time reduction, cost reduction, quality improvement and on-time delivery. 

9. Engender a spirit of cooperation throughout the supply chain to insure responsiveness to the customer.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

1. BS/BA in engineering, business or technical discipline. Minimum of 5 years’experience in a Sourcing Manager related role.

2. Strong verbal and written communication skills, both in Chinese and English.

3. Experienced sourcing products and components from regions including China, and the rest of Asia.

4. Rich quality management experience/background or manufacturing process management experience in casting parts (foundries for cast iron, cast steel, cat aluminum) and machining parts.

5. Hands on experience supporting new product development projects, qualifying suppliers, qualifying products/components, verifying suppliers manufacturing readiness and ramping up volume production in low cost regions.

6. Experienced using supplier performance management best-practices to drive supplier continues improvement.

7. Prior experience implementing a pull system/kanban approach to component flow.

8. Maintain knowledge of products, logistics, processes, quality standards, health and safety and employment legislation.

9. Willingness to travel 30%-50%.
