Overall Purpose of The Job

· The staff nurse as a part of the flight nurse team will undertake the medical transportation missions based on internal standard and procedures on a pre-assigned rotational shift basis or whenever an urgent request arises

· Activity and scope of work will be in accordance with the overall business goals of International SOS.

· Participate in the training of new nurses and continuous medical education of existing team members

· Support Chief Flight nurse to maintain medical equipment room as well as medical equipment in accordance to the ISOS standards in view of the yearly internal medical transportation standard audit.

B. Key Responsibilities

· Providing comprehensive medical care within the scope of nursing practice during the medical transport of patients.

· Maintaining current certification as well as continuing medical education (CME) in order to keep current with best practice nursing principles. Internationals SOS will support this process for full time employees.

· Ensuring that the nurse is in possession of the required documentation for the missions that s/he is nominated for. International SOS will support this process.

· Ensuring her/his availability as per the pre-set roster for the nurse rotation.

· The nurse is responsible for adhering to the implemented Standard Operations Procedures and Policies (SOPP) regarding infection control.
   

Required Competencies

· Essential nursing competency in the medical management of critical patients of all surgical and medical conditions.

· Ability to tolerate the ambiguity and stressful nature inherent to the duties of a multifunctional nurse.

· Punctuality, sense of responsibility and reliability, ability to learn, honesty.

· Culturally sensitive.

 

Required Work Experience

· Current or recent ICU or Critical care exposure in a hospital or similar setting.

· Work experience with international patients will be an advantage.

· Minimum 3 years post graduation.

· Broad based clinical experience (different clinical modalities) will be an advantage.

· Nursing qualifications according to the requirements of the country that the candidate practices in.

· Will be required to travel either domestically or internationally on commercial and chartered flights whenever a need arises
