PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Key player for expanding the capability to provide external manufacturing support as required in the region
Conduct strategic reviews on our existing and future potential manufacturing requirements in the region, including high-level assessment of opportunities to utilize external manufacturing or asset lean product production in Corning’s value chains.
Implement & manage cross-functional teams to provide regional leadership and support to key division projects resulting from strategic reviews and opportunities identification phase.
Act as regional leader for external manufacturing supplier identification, development, management with regional service providers as required by Corning’s business units.
In conjunction with GSM global resources - identify tools and processes required to support external manufacturing in the region. Develop deployment plan for tools and processes in region.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
ii. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
B.S degree in technical or business discipline, ideally MBA.
10+ years’ experience in implementing and managing Outsourced Manufacturing operations, preferably in high-tech, electronics or highly engineered product environment
Strong knowledge of supply chain operations with demonstrated experience of problem solving and leadership
Ability to lead difficult negotiations and develop win-win solutions for Corning and suppliers.
Technical sourcing or engineering experience preferred
Good knowledge of contracting and purchasing terms and conditions
Ability to manage varied and demanding workload across multiple businesses and time zones
6-Sigma or Performance Excellence program training
Worked in a multi-cultural, multinational environment preferably with overseas travel or extended work period
iv. Key Success Factors:
Provide leadership and/or support for existing or new contract manufacturing operations in Asia
Identification of new opportunities for use of external manufacturing or asset lean manufacturing in Asia
Develop supply base of external/contract manufacturing suppliers and relationships in Asia as required by Corning’s business units
Manage and further develop OSM tools and processes and train BU and GSM function personal
On-time and within-budget delivery of projects in support of Asia GSM/Mfg. strategy implementation.
Develop strong relationships with key Functional and Business Unit leaders across Asia.
