For our Dorel Juvenile Asia Sourcing Operations team, we are currently searching for a Buying Director who will lead all business development and operations activities, which includes supplier management, sourcing, buying and managing the day-to-day operations of the Health and Safety product category cross functional team. This category includes infant health and safety finished goods products, e.g. thermometers, humidifiers, health & grooming monitors, nursery and feeding products.
In close cooperation with the (Global) Strategic Procurement Team, the Buying Director identifies and creates business opportunities on the supplier market in China & Asia, translating the business goals and strategies into action plans, delivering a concrete supplier base in accordance with the global business needs, ensuring essential suppliers’ performance, product quality and supply. In this role, the Buying director acts as ‘voice’ to the suppliers and is the entry point of the business of the Health & Safety product category.
In our matrix based structure, the Buying Director works closely together with the oversea counter parts and local functional heads of Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain etc. to deliver on the common business objectives & KPI’s.
Job Description:
? Leading Health & Safety cross functional team operation including sourcing & buying, supply chain & logistics, quality and deliver robust processes management, leadership and mentoring of the team;
? Drive business development across the category, supporting the Dorel Juvenile global market organization according to the agreed requirements to grow the business;
? Source, evaluate, train and develop new and existing suppliers to maximize potential and business opportunity through the Asian supply chain, in alignment with (global) buying strategies and practices;
? Collect market intelligence, including finished goods market costs, country of origin customs/government regulation & competitors’ movement;
? Manage finished goods costing, BOM review and validation process;
? Initiate cost saving programs by sourcing alternative suppliers, project transfer (to alternative suppliers with better cost & conditions);
? Build, develop & rationalize the supplier matrix to facilitate global categories positioning, pricing, quality, capacity and market needs;
? Drive innovation through sourcing, technical expertise and development, focused on sustainable alternatives;
? Provide monthly tracking and analysis of actual KPI versus plan and work out action plans in case of variances;
Job Requirement:
? University/Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the field of Business Administration, International trade or Operations;
? Minimum of 15 years working experience in consumer products, preferably infant, juvenile, toy or any related products, and exposure to all aspects of supplier sourcing, buying, logistics, merchandising ODM/OEM engineered items, development, continuous improvement, driving change and developing meaningful results orientated relationships with suppliers
? Minimum of 10 year managerial experience, preferably obtained in a similar kind of role;
? Familiar with production planning, quality control and technical support in different types of (mass) manufacturing environments;
? Familiar with New Product Development practices and procedures;
? Experience with working in a matrix organization, fast paced in a multicultural environment;
? Excellent communication and people management skills;
? Strong motivator & people manager;
? Strong negotiation & influencing skills;
? Advanced Microsoft Office skills;
? Proficiency in English and Mandarin, both speaking and writing.
