POSITION AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Mechanical Engineer – Thermal and Hydraulic systems
Reports to: Power Plant Mechanical Engineering Specialist
1. GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Mechanical Engineer will have experience in the design, construction, commissioning and performance testing of Thermal Mechanical systems, Hydraulic systems, Condensate systems and Composite piping.
The incumbent will have in-depth knowledge of design codes, piping materials specifications, valve specifications, flange and pipe specifications, hydraulic studies, heavy rotating equipment and welding procedures specifications.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
2.1. Perform design reviews to confirm that functional specifications and user requirements are satisfied by Contractor’s designs.
? Design Reviews are performed on a day-to-day basis during any phase of a project by project engineers or team of professionals to review design documentation issued by an external Design Authority. These reviews are conducted to accept / not accept documentation issued by the Design Authority (Contractor).
2.2. On site engineering support during the construction and commissioning of power plant on the following systems:
? Thermal Mechanical systems
? Hydraulic Systems (Process and Fire water systems)
? Design baseline management. Reviews EPC designs and propose modifications to suite actual site conditions.
? Design Change Management
? Compile inspection and test plans
? Provide technical assurance during construction, including welding practices.
? Provide commissioning oversight and expertise
? Provide plant performance review and validation service

2.3. Interact effectively with other engineering disciplines within the Power plant build Department and external Customers
? The Mechanical Engineer participates in design review meetings to establish an Engineering baseline. The mechanical project engineer utilises interpretative decision making in order to advise the customers where data or information is unknown or controversial.
? Do material replacement and design code evaluation
? Provide a Quality Assurance service to ensure compliance with manufacturing, welding and construction standards.

3. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
3.1. Administratively reports to the Power Plant Mechanical Engineering Specialist.
3.2. Interfaces with the Construction Management team, EPC Contractor and sub-contractors, Contractor's Design Institute, Owner's Engineer, Third Party Consultants etc. as necessary.
3.3. Liaise with local Government Authorities to confirm legal/regulatory compliance and authorisation.

4. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
? Bachelor's in Science – Mechanical degree plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in design, construction and commissioning of Power Plant thermal and hydraulic systems.
? Heavy rotating equipment, Piping systems, Materials Classification and specification.
? Good understanding of the following design codes and standards: American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and Chinese manufacturing codes.
? Welding quality assurance
? Analytical engineering design and technical problem solving skills
? Cost analysis / economic evaluation skills
? Computer literate, technical report writing, communication and presentation skills
? Knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, procedures, policies and guidelines.
? Ability to effectively communicate with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the reader/audience
? Ability to pass background check upon offer including: criminal history, driving record, and employment/education verification
