Position Title: Quality Manager
Reports To: Plant Manager
Positions Supervised: Quality Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineer, Inspection Supervisor, Inspection teams, Quality Clerks


1.0 BROAD FUNCTIONS:
The Quality Manager is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and to maintain compliance with ISO14001 & ISO/TS16949 standards. The manager is responsible for meeting annual quality objectives set by corporate management and for managing the daily functions of the Quality Department.

2.0 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
2.1 Manage quality objectives and develop improvements with-in the quality systems.
2.2 Responsible to maintain and improve the discipline of incoming material testing and standard operations of the lab relative to, Incoming Quality Control (IQO) and Out-going Quality control (OQC)
2.3 Responsible to maintain and improve related activities in the inspection and testing of raw materials, (fabrics and rubber) hardware, inspection jigs, fixtures, gauges, measuring systems, testing equipment, and product.
2.4 Acts as the first contact with the customer in managing complaints and returns
2.5 The manager is to lead 3rd. party quality audits and is expected to prepare for the audit, and guide the audit successfully.
2.6 Oversee the calibration schedule of all measuring and test equipment to insure the standards and schedules are maintained.
2.7 Responsible to monitor scrap, internal defect ppm, and First time Capability (FTC)
2.8 Expected to provide analysis of defects, trends, cost of quality, and to provide recommendations to reduce the cost of quality.
2.9 Responsible for customer related APQP documentation, customer PPAP review, approval, and submission.
2.10 Responsible for communicating customer and supplier ratings to the organization, auditing suppliers, and to champion improvement activities related to supplier performance
2.11 Develop and implement internal Layered Process Audits (LPA’s) throughout areas of manufacturing, engineering, and quality control.
2.12 Review current procedures and monitor the actual activites to identify system weaknesses and to implement improvement actions to strengthen the QMS.
2.13 Act as a lead manager of continuous improvement relative to quality control and employee development within the quality group.
2.14 Act as the liaison to other Flexfab sites to better comprehend and understand customer specific quality requirements.
2.15 Responsible for the standardization of measuring and inspection methods and technics.
2.16 Expected to continuously review current inspection methods and develop standardized work environments to reduce variation between work cells, product lines, and individual inspectors. (create consistency throughout the inspection teams and the methods used to determine product quality acceptance and rejection criteria)
2.17 Expected to have advanced knowledge of AIAG standards and the use of current AIAG formats when submitting PPAP documents to the customer.
2.18 Expected to plan, organize, and oversee team activities related to customer lead events such as “Process Sign Off” (PSO) / “Run at Rate” (RAR) / “Production Demonstration Run” (PDR) and “Supplier Readiness Evaluations” (SRE)

4.1 Customers, Suppliers, third party auditors, and third party service providers.

5.0 SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
5.1 Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Engineering Background
5.2 English language – Fluent written/spoken
5.3 Minimum 3 years quality management experience serving the automotive industry
5.4 Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer or SQE serving the automotive industry
5.5 Must have experience as a tier 1or tier 2 supplier to the automotive industry
5.6 Advanced knowledge in AIAG standards, TS16949, ISO14001, APQP, PPAP, Flow Charts, Control Plans, PFMEAs, MSA, SPC, (PSO, RAR, PDR, SRE)
5.7 Ability to write technical reports and analysis
5.8 Experienced in use the use of SPC, and must have the ability in performing capability studies, Root Cause Analysis, Mistake and Error Proofing, and effective use of the 8D process.
5.9 Ability to read and understand drawings,
5.10 Knowledge of G.D. &T, GR&R, Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing
5.11 Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively train and mentor subordinates
5.12 Experienced with Web-based supplier quality systems preferred
5.13 Must be assertive and have the ability to implement change
5.11 Must have the initiative to follow up on projects to ensure timelines, milestones, procedures, and documents are being completed and followed. (PDCA)

6.0 WORKING CONDITIONS
6.1 Normal office and laboratory environment
6.2 50% time exposure to manufacturing environment (must learn and understand the process)
6.3 Hands on activities when training and implementing improvement projects
