General Description:
This position has a dual responsibility as Route Development Manager (RDM) responsible for managing the North/Central China (N/CCN) and Australia/New Zealand (AU/NZ) trade lanes, as well as Perishables Business Development Manager (BDM) responsible for generating new Perishables business and steering and driving Perishables activities between AU and CN, in line with the company VM strategies. The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating new Perishables business and steering and driving Perishables activities between AU and CN initially and then APAC.

Job Duties:
- Strategic ‘driver’ of the Trade Lane (TL) development; Increase TL- specific local and network business; Develop and maintain TL-specific key customers.
- Support local and partner sales and operations teams to ensure onboarding of key customers
- Meet/Exceed the agreed volume budget and other predefined TL KPIs
- Establish and maintain communication, cooperation & target alignment with relevant trade lane partners and represent AU and N/CCN.
- Conduct strategic TL business analyses: trade/commodity/volume /customer/competitor information; Maintain TL-related know-how pool (partner presentations, contact lists, local rates/tariffs etc).
- Support sales teams in N/CCN for TL related business; Conduct sales campaigns (flyers, initiatives, rates) in alignment with TL partners
- Arrange joint calls and customer visits with Sales, operation, management personnel, as well as the overseas counterparts.
- Develop and close new business and meet / exceed the Perishable sales targets for the AU-CN trade
- Identify substantial target account base and successfully acquire / implement new perishable business
- Identify and develop qualified and real time pipeline in excess of 10 x target value
- Work with the Vertical Market Manager and the North/ Central/ South China Product and Sales Management teams to develop strategies and activities to support existing client relationships and grow new accounts and profitable revenue in regards to Perishables
- Support actively defined campaigns (e.g. vertical market, trade lane, transport mode, import / export related)
- Develop, direct and manage the marketing / sales team’s initiatives on new sales contacts. Have involvement in the coordination of all sales and marketing activities in regards to Perishables within the Chinese market
- Provide accurate information to enable Implementation to enable them to create customer SOP.
- Mandatory attendance to internal meetings as per requirement of sales management
- Manage agenda’s for internal and external visitors
- Working together with Customer solution team to develop value added solutions
- Escalate complaints with the respective department and follows up to ensure customer receives feedback within reasonable time
- Provide quotes to customers in a timely manner and in line with standard DB Schenker official quotation format
- Direct the activities of the business unit teams for the achievement of short and long term business objectives increased revenue, profit and customer satisfaction for existing and new Perishables contracts
- Contribute as a key member of the Sales Team to overall plans, strategies, tactics, budgets and performance review and action planning
- Support the marketing and sales teams and other appropriate team members in any tender process with the objectives of growing revenue
- Build relationships with service providers to extend DB Schenker’s capacity to provide end to end service within China

Job Requirements:
- Excellent sales skills and strong business acumen as well as interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills (English & Mandarin)
- Detailed knowledge of logistic services (Sea, Air and contract logistics) and in depth understanding of perishables supply chains
- Positive and convincing attitude, high energy, motivated and eager to gain business
- Knowledge of relevant legislations and authorities which impact on your area of responsibility
- Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Has a high degree of comfort working in a rapidly changing and evolving structure, flexibility and a very high level of urgency combined with similar levels of care and attention to detail
- Learn, be proficient and be up to date with all DB Schenker’s internal operational and sales software packages by usage -Learn, be proficient and be up to date with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Excellent sales skills gained in a similar position
- Knowledge of relevant legislations and authorities which impact on your area of responsibility
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, analysis, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government requirements.
- Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and staff.
- Ability to adapt and work in a rapidly changing and evolving structure, flexibility and a very high level of urgency combined with similar levels of care and attention to detail
- Must be able to travel most of the time to attend sales calls
