UL Verification Services is part of the UL, a global independent company dedicated to promoting safe living and working environments. The company has more than 100 offices and labs across the world and more than 10,000 employees.

UL Transaction Security is the independent go-to party for new innovative transaction security technology, for instance for contactless credit card payments or for mobile payments (NFC) technology. We help our clients to define winning strategies and convert these into useful products (for mobile payments, transit ticketing and electronic identification). We offer advisory services, training security evaluation services, test services and test tools.

The only PCI PTS accredited laboratory outside of Europe and North America is based in Melbourne, UL Transaction Security has clients around the world with a specific focus on Asia. Locally, UL Transaction Security is accredited to perform PCI DSS assessments, as well as PA DSS evaluations of payment software.

Also UL Transaction Security performs; PCI PIN audits, general consulting and education services around payment systems and embedded system security.

UL Transaction Security is looking for a new colleague in our China team! We are hiring a Security Engineer based in China who will be reporting to the Operations Manager in Melbourne. Prior information security experience is not essential, although a general security mindset is required. Employees will receive the same training and education which UL Transaction Security provides to financial institutions and security product vendors around the world.


JOB DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for evaluating and testing the security of embedded products. You are task to perform evaluations of these products with the aim to analyze their strength and weaknesses.
? Implement sophisticated attacks requiring multiple techniques such as vulnerability analysis, signal processing, FPGA, optical, and others.
? Undertake security evaluation attacks on smart cards or embedded systems. The main activity will be the real product analysis with the aim to highlight its strengths and weaknesses.
? Specialize in the realization of innovative physical attacks using laser or EM techniques, in-depth understanding on how the products work with the aim to stress them using complex hardware techniques.
? Work closely with customers to meet their requirements; including producing expertise reports on the findings. Effective communication with them whenever it is necessary.
? Follow-up with the latest technical developments in the physical attacks area that need to be contributed to the internal R&D developments in hardware (analogue and digital electronics) and software (C, C#, and others) to enhance the level of our attacks and to explore new forms of attacks.
? Provide high-level technical support in areas like test planning and logistics, update of test procedures, training and resolution of quality issues.
? Maintains/improves technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, obtaining applicable certifications and participating in professional societies and cross-departmental task forces


REQUIREMENTS
? University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree) in Electronic/Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline plus generally 3+ years of related experience.
? Good skills in embedded software preferred.
? Experience in hardware development or in a laboratory environment and skills in developing codes in different languages (C, C++, assembly) preferred.
? Familiar with test equipment and working in a multi-skills environment mixing electronic, optical, security, mechanical, and IT.
? Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
? A self-motivated team player who is able to work independently and likes to bring new ideas for technical development.
