I. Primary Purpose
The Technical Designer has a responsibility for coordination and execution of Ready To Wear
Product from development to commercialization. They are responsible for linking the Coach vision to the Service Providers (SPs) and ensuring a high level of quality. The Technical Design Manager role is a critical extension of the Asia Technical Design team.
II. Key Responsibilities
? Work closely with the Asia Technical Design team and NY technical team to understand Coach fit and aesthetics then be able to translate this to the SPs.
? Communicate and give direction to the SPs.
? Regular travel to the SPs to ensure understanding and oversee execution of product to design aesthetic.
? Manage the SPs adherence to product time/action calendars.
? Communicate deviations from calendar, facilitate solutions and resolve issues regionally.
? Onboard new SPs to Coach processes and quality standards.
? Ensure compliance to Coach Quality standards at all times.
? Attend SP pre-production meetings.
? Specialised technical projects to enhance product and execution.
Tactical:
? Review incoming tech packs with SPs to answer questions and resolve issues/discrepancies.
? Review samples prior to sending to NY and redirect SP to rework when samples do
not meet Coach standards.
? Review NY fit comments with SPs to ensure clear understanding and accurate
execution.
? Make onsite decisions in conjunction with Snr Manager RTW to positively impact timing.
? Work directly with SPs to train them on special techniques, edge painting, hand sewing etc.
? Coordinate and facilitate trip planning, fit session bookings with SPs.
? Work with SPs on timing for sample making during peak periods.
III. Dimensions
Reports to the Senior Manager, Technical Design, HK.
Interacts with:
a. Asia Technical Design team.
b. NY Headquarters.
c. Service Providers.
IV. Education & Experience Requirements

? Bachelor's degree in Fashion or equivalent industry experience preferred.
? 5-7 years’ experience in apparel industry with a concentration in design, garment engineering, fit, pattern and draping skills, garment construction and manufacturing.
? Excellent co-ordination and strong communication skills in written and oral English. Proficiency in Cantonese & Mandarin.
? Good connections and relationships with sample rooms, patternmakers, trim resources,
factories.
? Attention to detail.
? Proficiency in Web PDM, PLM, Illustrator and Outlook.
? Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure.
? Ability to undertake frequent travel, throughout Asia.
? Knowledge of AQL and quality control systems.
