Reports to: General Manager Technical and New Product Development North Asia
Location: Jiangmen, Guangdong

Our client is an established western multinational paper packaging company with established presence in major global markets. It has been operating in China for years and is running multiple manufacturing sites in China. They are looking for a Product Designer in order to cope with their rapid expansion.

Purpose of position:

Lead the design and development of new paper, paperboard and corrugated packaging in a customer facing, rapid prototyping facility.

Design and develop new products or improvements to current product.

Role and Responsibilities：

? Host customers in a product development workshop, refining designs to meet their needs and exceed their expectations;
? Lead the NPD team during these workshops directing the required changes and presenting these concepts to the customer;
? Practical involvement in providing packaging solution involving designing, sample making and testing process to meet customer as well as manufacturing requirement.
? Work with the Technical Managers to expand production capability;
? Work with Procurement to evaluate and incorporate new materials;
? Investigate new and emerging technologies which may provide unique benefits to packaging;
? Focus on converting opportunities into new business wins;
? Determine product requirements; keep abreast of any developments in legislation which may affect product design and also any developments in technologies and techniques affecting the design process or outcomes;
? Assist with testing and product review process.

Tasks：
? Work with the local and overseas Product Development teams;
? Generate CAD drawings of new concepts;
? Produce prototypes of new prototypes for review, testing or customer requirements;
? Travel may be required to meet with customers;
? Receive product concepts in response customer briefs and drive development of prototypes in response;
? Produce drawings and all necessary product specifications;
? Work with the New Product Introduction team for implementing products into manufacturing;
? Co-ordinate the design engineering and manufacture of the new or improved product;
? Assist in the testing of the product;
? Produce technical sales literature and customer specifications as required;
? Keep abreast of technology or legislation changes which could impact on the product(s);
? May assist in the product launch;
? May provide technical consultation to customers on product performance characteristics or on problems encountered;
? Research and gather market info on relevant packaging design.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
? Tertiary education in Engineering or graphic art and at least 10 years relevant work experience;
? Hands on for packaging solution, familiar with the packaging material;
? Experience in packaging manufacturing environment, at least five years’ experience;
? Expert in MAC and PC designing software eg. Artios CAD, Auto CAD and Esko software such as Plato;
? Experience in graphics software eg. AI and Corel Draw;
? Experience in Esko Pre-Press system and Colour Management System.
? Strong in product structure design, innovation and creative design;
? Fluent in spoken and written English;
? Familiar in printing and packaging process and technology;
? Culture fit-in, adopt in the team;
