Portfolio Coverage: Smarter Cities

This full-time position is designed to help further build on established networks and channels linking IBM to the industry analyst community and key business and IT media within the Growth Markets. Through a variety of channels - including social media, teleconferences, interviews, events and briefings - this position will further extend the profile of IBM to these important external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a high degree of collaboration with internal stakeholders such as brand and regional communication colleagues and external liaison with analysts and journalists. They would be responsible for setting the strategy and execution of the External Relations program for Smarter Cities, Public Sector, Health and Travel & Transport campaigns and will also act as an advisor to the broader marketing and executive teams around External Relations.
As External Relations is a critical discipline of IBM Marketing & Communications, the candidate for this position should possess strong interpersonal, writing and editing skills, cultural understanding and social media skills along with sound organizational abilities. The candidate will work closely with GMT communications specialists, marketing managers, IBM executives, media outlets and analyst organizations to establish a full network of contacts.
Key duties would include:
路 Manage a portfolio which deals with IT and Industry IT analysts (in areas that map to their research agendas) as well as business and IT journalists within the Growth Markets.
路 Set the strategy for executing a Communications plan with target analysts and journalists around identified business priorities across the Growth Markets
路 Provide guidance and coaching to GMT Communications in planning and executing External Relations programs at the country level
路 Provide a collaborative working model to execute External Relations in the Growth Markets:
Take the lead role in designing proactive outreach to both the media and the broader analyst community about key strategic IBM initiatives as part of the GIE model.
Provide support and guidance across the seven GMTs who are engaging analysts and regional media.
Assist in developing analyst fact sheets and media releases on major market wins/announcements
Leverage corporate messaging through connections with the WW AR and Media Relations teams
Collaborate with WW teams to create Growth Markets specific and relevant resources
路 Work across the IBM disciplines and functions to draw on and leverage analyst thought leadership and research, as well as media articles and commentary in the formulations of IBM鈥檚 own strategies and plans.
路 Build relationships of trust with the IT analyst community and journalists to increase the understanding and support for IBM strategies and offerings. (eg. share information on acquisitions, major contract wins and key business priorities).
路 Arrange and execute analyst briefings and media interviews at the GMU level
路 Draft/distribute analyst fact sheets and media releases which cover key clients wins, solution
Required
Bachelor's Degree
At least 10 years experience in consulting / business development / IT industry analyst
