JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for an experienced and energetic Merchandising Manager to develop a small, strong customer focus team.
A member of Tontine merchandising team in Shanghai.
Major area of responsibilities include: product sourcing, follow-up, and liaison with team members in Australia and interact with all other functions in our Sourcing office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and participate in developing Tontine Operations and Supply strategy
- Link Tontine strategy to Tontine Asia team goals/KPI/Performance
- Source appropriate suppliers to meet business needs: product, price, volume, speed in line with agreed strategy
- Ensure product needs specifications and complies with business standards
- Resolve supplier issues related to specifications, standards and development
- Managing all aspects of the development/production cycle; post order follow ups and to ensure that products are delivered in full and on time to specification.
- Supervise Sourcing, Costing, Pre & Post Order activities
- To ensure Tontine Product is designed and manufactured within required standard
- Monitoring suppliers in all aspects of production & delivery both in China and off shore.
- Support and implement functional policies, processes, tools and programs ensure consistency
- Ensure alignment and collaboration between merchandising and other functions
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Merchandising, Operations Management, or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years in Sourcing, Product Development, Procurement and Supply Chain Management preferably soft furnishings (bedding accessories) or related category (at least 5 years in management role)
- A successful track record in building a results-driven team and sustainable operations
- Knowledge of product integrity, product cycle timeline, textile and bedding accessories product construction.
- Excellent understanding of textile construction and manufacturing processes
- Experience in entire soft furnishing development process from sourcing to production
- Demonstrated track record in improving operating efficiencies, streamlining operations, leveraging buying power and maximizing business synergies.
- Significant knowledge of Quality Principles
- Demonstrated success in sourcing, product development, price negotiation and detail follow-up
- Experience with interfacing to customers and senior management directly with the ability to articulate business issues and customer requests
- Leadership skills and business acumen, effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- Dealing with customers and suppliers
- “Hands-on” management style with ability to manage, motivate and support a team
- Attention to detail and excellent organization skills
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Based in Shanghai with frequent travel to China and other countries as required.
