LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Retention:
? Leads recruiting efforts for the hiring of the site test development engineering staff.
? Coach Project Engineers in the interviewing/hiring process.
? Monitor turnover and develop retention strategies
Employee and Team Development:
? Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
? Create and manage personnel development plans.
? Create and manage succession plans for the test development site.
? Perform personnel evaluations professionally and on time.
? Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently.
Performance Management:
? Perform site manager evaluations professionally and on time.
? Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
? Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.
Communication:
? Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.
? Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
? Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
? Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.
FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Strategy and Direction:
? Know and understand the strategic directions of the department, the business development team, and Jabil Circuit.
? Define, develop and implement strategies which contribute to business development and Jabil Circuit’s strategic directions.
? Provide regular updates to the Director, Jabil executives, and business development team on the execution of the strategy.
Cost Management:
? Ensure break-even financial performance, on average, of the assigned test development site.
? Prepare site financial forecast and variance analysis on schedule as required by Corporate Finance
? Monitor project closings to ensure billing is properly executed.
? Monitor site General Ledger to ensure proper cost accounting.
? Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities, both internal to the site and external to the customer.
? Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, and continuous improvement efforts.
Forecast Development and Accuracy:
? Prepare timely forecasts for the department.
? Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.
? Support plant TE Managers and the Business Units in the development of new and incremental business opportunities; prepare presentations and travel as required.
? Maintain relationship with internal and external customers, monitor customer satisfaction, and lead issue resolution as required.
TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
? Asses test development project scope and complexity and assign engineering resources accordingly
? Monitor test development progress as needed to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
? Review test development proposals and tester designs to ensure compliance to the customer’s statement of work.
? Ensure quoting accuracy by monitoring quoted vs. actual performance and using historical information to guide the quoting process
? Ensure operational standardization through the use of department tools and systems.
? Develop and participate in organizational initiatives aimed at improving operational performance, tools and systems
? Ensure the technical competency of the site is ahead of the curve to meet the current and future needs of the customer base
? Drive site personnel to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of organizational goals.
? Travel required.
? May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
