Job Title: Associate Editor & Researcher
Department: Editorial & Research
Working Location: Shanghai, China
Summary
Associate Editors and Researchers work within Asia Briefing’s editorial team to write, edit and publish business intelligence targeted for foreign investors with planned or existing operations in emerging Asia. This role combines aspects of journalism, business consulting, and legal/taxation services to produce digital and print products with an emphasis on the practical side of doing business in Asia.
Primary Responsibilities:
? Researching and writing website briefs and magazine articles
? Copy editing books, magazines, website articles and other materials for various Asia Briefing platforms (Asia Briefing, ASEAN Briefing, China Briefing, India Briefing and Vietnam Briefing)
? Publishing website articles on one or more Asia Briefing’s digital platforms, and maintaining standards of quality/formatting
? Researching and updating regional business information and statistics
? Keeping abreast of the latest regulatory issues affecting foreign investment into emerging Asia, and its current economic and political landscapes
? Overseeing the work of editorial interns and mentoring their development
Qualifications
? Bachelor’s degree in communications (English, journalism, media studies), business (economics, finance, accounting), or law (international, Asia-specific)
? Previous work experience (1-2 years) in editorial, research, business analysis, data mining, statistics or other relevant role
? Proven excellence in analytical research and written communication, fine attention to detail
? Able to multi-task and work independently under deadlines
? Solid understanding of international business as pertains to emerging Asia (China, India, ASEAN)
? Fluent English a must, as expressed in high-level writing abilities. Fluency in Chinese is also a must, with a relevant third language a strong plus
? CMS, SEO and digital publishing skills preferred
? Study abroad and/or overseas work experience a strong plus
