Position Overview
This position is primarily responsible for driving the research, gathering, and development of fabric and/or trim. Working with mills to source and develop, quality, brand-right fabrics. Working across a range of different price points and divisions this person needs a strong technical background, good fashion understanding to commercially achieve fashion fabrics at the right price.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities
? Develops and gathers fabrics assortments according to design direction, while proposing fabric/product improvements.
? Drives the fabric development process and calendar in line with buyers visits.
Forge and maintain relationships with mills and other divisions.
? Maintains, updates, and analyzes innovation showroom and buyers selections.
? Researches and stays abreast of fabric and/or trim trends and technological developments.
? Suggests and drives creative solutions to fabric pricing challenges.
? Forges global relationships with mills/vendors globally while developing & maintaining existing relationships through ongoing communication.
? Support the development of fabrics and consistently contribute to the seasonal presentation of fabric direction to buying and merchandising teams.
? Create, manage and maintain fabric development and sourcing process inclusive of sample yardage.
Create, manage, and maintain fabric library and showroom.
Manage the administration of incoming fabrics onto the department.
? Regularly inform other teams of incoming researched and developed updates.

Position Requirements
? Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
? Previous expertise in fabric development.
? In depth technical knowledge in relation to weaving, printing, dyeing, finishing, treatments and washing techniques as well as mill capabilities.
? Ability to drive their own workload, able to work independently.
? In depth knowledge of fabric constructions and finishes across a broad spectrum of fabric qualities.
? Good trend understanding and forecasting ability.
? Excellent taste level and Eye for quality.
? Detail oriented with strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
? Computer literate in Microsoft office programs and Adobe Photoshop/illustrator.
