GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Senior Merchandiser is taken responsibility of supervisory job of dedicated category, sourcing of factory , ensure the fabric/sample are developed to meet buyer’s requirements (to develop alternatives and liaise with buyers), adequate quotations are negotiated and obtained to achieve business objectives and to monitor order tracking activities to meet quantity, quality, order specification and delivery dates requirements. Diagnose production problems and work with factory to present alternative to both buyers and local management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fabric/Sample Development: To identify and develop fabric and monitor sample production to meet customer’s requirements.
- Costing: Monitor and ensure competitive quotations are obtained from appropriate factories for potential programs.
- Order Placement: Facilitate price negotiation process during buyer’s trip and conduct production planning.
- Order Tracking: Involved in each critical stage throughout the order tracking process from fabric/yarn supply, pre-production preparation to production process tracking and to make sure each step is properly implemented. Negotiate with factories on major changes. Diagnose production problems and work with factory to present viable alternatives to both buyers and local manager.
- Reporting: Prepare merchandising related reports when required.
- People Management: Ensure the task performance of junior is adequate and establish a good work relationship with the junior.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree – better major in garment/yarn constructions.
- 6-8 years relevant experience.especially in softline accessory(hat, scarf, glove)
- Sound technical knowledge in garment/yarn constructions, fabric development, washing etc. in the respective product areas up to a level to be able to assess production comments/quality and make sound decisions on alternatives.
- Sound experience in dealing with USA market and offshore production monitoring.
- Good knowledge of garment quota & product costing.
- Experience in sourcing of fabric, trims & accessories.
- Good command of English.
- Computer literate.
- Able to negotiate and maintain rapport with vendors.
- A team player.
- Able to anticipate, prioritize, delegate, monitor work activities.
- Able to diagnose problems, consider in different perspectives and make objective decisions considering various alternatives.
- Smart, flexible, able to work under pressure, self-motivated with initiatives.
