Responsibility:
1 Develop a thorough knowledge of Chinese Energy Market related to gasification (particularly CTX projects with X being any fuel).
Understand all aspects of the Gasification related Energy Market in China, its specificities and its dynamics:
Products and related Industrial Gas Applications
Key Chinese and International players
Key Industrial Basins/ Sites
Drivers for projects Policies and Regulations (e.g. size of plants, environmental, favored products)?
Manage/ capitalize/ formalize the information through databases, tools, studies, reports, etc.
Understand and monitor resources (particularly water) constraints and emissions of large CTX projects and
Manage/ capitalize/ formalize the information through databases, tools, studies, reports, etc.
2 ?Train Business Developers on the above areas
Help business developers and basin managers in new prospects identification. Assess at an early stage the strategic interest of new projects. Act as a resource and answer in a reactive way to questions they may have.
Assist and Train LI business developers and basin managers in the above domains, in particular for the identification of projects which are the most likely to materialze and which are in line with our Group Strategy.
Contribute to update/ present existing training modules (esp. LI Commercial Training, Processes of our large customers) and develop others to follow/anticipate the evolution of market and internal needs.
Lead the Gasification related Energy Projects Portfolio Analysis and update it on a regular basis
Based on the above analysis and overall market knowledge, help LI to identify projects which are the most likely to materialize and which are in line with our Group's Strategy.
3? Understand the full picture of our targeted projects and the related IG needs, the customer production plans and their logic, in order to help ALC propose a differentiating solution and focus efforts.
Based on a deep market knowledge, analyze the customers' needs, and their competitiveness with face to face meetings with them, in particular for complex projects. Understand as well as possible the real needs (which may differ from the expressed ones) in order to facilitate the selection of projects and technical solutions.
Actively participate to the AL China Selection Committees to give an expert opinion on project selection.
Assess the long term industrial risk of customer units which use our products for new business as well as expansions and asset take-over opportunities. This includes but is not limited to performing Site Competitiveness Assessments (SCA) for projects presented at the ZPR
Perform studies as needed to facilitate the business development and assessment.
4.? Provide early signals on future developments, thus allowing an early positioning of ALC.
Follow closely new industrial gas applications/ market trends in the energy conversion industry and forecast/ assess future business opportunities
Help ALC in the identification of new prospects and the allocation of resourcess
Anticipate possible scenarios of rationalization of the industry
5.? Develop a solid network among the various players and keep the contacts alive to improve ALC ability to communicate during project development phase.
Be involved in the early phase of project life, assess their strategic interest for the Group & follow it until it enters the commercial negotiation phase (handled by the business developers).
Establish and maintain relationship with large state owned and private companies heavily involved in gasification
Support XIA TM with other AL subsidiaries for any overseas investment planned by Chinese companies.
6. Contribute for China to the Strategic Marketing activities of the Oil & Gas Market. Monitor and analyze competition.
Competitive Intelligence: in coordination with ALC Competitive Intelligence team, monitor and analyze competitive activity in Metals Market, including the activity of steel companies developing a specific IG branch with commercial ambitions
Assess and update market shares and strengths and weaknesses of ALC and competitors.
Contribute to the Strategic Marketing activities (Plans, MTO, MTR) for China for the Oil & Gas Market and CTL/CTSNG/CTG/CTD etc.
Contribute to the reporting of Oil & Gas Market for China.
Support other Pacific Rim countries on specific request.
7. External Marketing / Communication
Prepare communication tools (e.g. presentations, brochures…) to support ALC and OTF promotion in the Gasification related Energy market
Requirements:
Bachlor degree minumum
Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other engineering degree with process background
Solid industrial background, with more than 10 years experience in the energy or coal chemical related domain
Wide external network with various players of the domain
Ability to understand the market and industrial dynamics, identify the differentiation, develop the quality prospects and collaborate with various phases during the project development
Strong commercial sense, highly proactive, agile and adaptable, ability to approach a task/problem independently. High sensitivity and curiosity to any moves related to our business
Ability to deliver results with highly presentable reports.
