General Description
The position is responsible for government affairs matters in Chongqing area as Gap establishes its retail business throughout in these cities. The person will act as liaison with government agencies in Chongqing area and report to the Senior Government Manager of Gap. This opportunity is for those who are interested and excited by working in a start-up environment of an established organization that requires flexibility and an ability to adapt to an unpredictable environment.

Key Responsibilities and Objectives
Act as liaison between government body and Gap China within Chongqing area and responsible for maintaining positive dialogue with government agencies, authorities and business partners to achieve Gap China’s goals.
Collaborate with company business to identify priority issues and initiatives, develop and communicate company positions consistent with Gap China’s business objectives and culture
Build and maintain strong regular dialogue with municipal governments and local authorities to support Gap China’s operations and high profile activities at the local level; and with related officials in the provincial or municipal government, including the municipal Commission of Commerce, Administration of Industry and Commerce, Customs and CIQ, etc., and other relevant governmental institutions
Support the business departments to communicate with the relevant government agencies for the government inspections
Effective participation in and leveraging of trade associations
Project a profile for Gap China with the government that is positive, credible and influential
Follow developments in Chinese economy and legal policies and provide timely analysis of their relevance to the company
Gather information on legal policies and regulations (e.g., regulatory tracking) and partner with legal team to address
Secure approvals, licenses and permits on behalf of the company
Maintain transparent and effective communication and collaborative relationships among business partners in the region
Develop and manage project plans

Qualifications
5 or more years of relevant work experience in government affairs and successful experience in dealing with Chinese provincial and local regulators
Established knowledge of Chinese regulations and policies in the areas of foreign investment and retail business
Strong communication skill
Project management skills
Established network of political and business contacts in China
Experience with a multinational company and familiarity with cultural differences between U.S. and China is desired
Knowledge of the apparel and retail industries are preferred
Comfortable with a substantial portion time dedicated to domestic travel
Good oral and written communication skills in both Mandarin and English
University degree required, advanced degree preferred
Reputation for conducting oneself with uncompromising integrity
