COSTING MANAGER–JOB DESCRIPTION

Reason for New Hire: Provide pre-1st green light costing support to PING CFO, PING Engineering and PING Material Departments to drive costing transparency between PING PRDS and T1/T2 CBD contributing to increased margin levels for PING.

During PING development process disconnection exist between PING and T1/T2’s tied to better understanding of the relationships betweenT1/T2 sub process attributes and associated costs. Improved supplier transparency is needed earlier in the development process to link PING PRDS attribute “options” with costs, so PING may assess financial value of certain sub process “options” with impact on PING and supplier margins. Currently, PING has no dedicated costing staff to lend leadership and supportto understanding relationship between DFMEA and PFMEA sub process attributes and associated costs.The role as proposed will focus on understanding not only PRDS sub process attributes, but linkage with costs via unbundled cost-breakdown transparency – to drive PING margin gain without sacrifice of product performance intentions. Role payback: Within 6 months.
Key performance metrics in support of theCosting Manager (hard goods)role will be:
1. Collaborate between PING Finance, Engineering and Material Departments with unbundled CBD’s supporting each new product in 2014.
2. Throughout development provide linkage between PING Finance, Engineering, Materials, and T1/T2’s with DFEMA/PFMEA sub process option(s) to drive pre 1st green light T1/T2 CBD transparency in support of each new product in 2014.
3. Contribute no less than $2M in cost avoidance and cost savings without sacrifice of signed off PRDS new product performance intentions or 1st green light signoff timelines in 2014.
4. Achieve 98% on-time release of 1st green light signoff as measured by having new product CBD’s into PING Finance, Materials, Engineering for review prior to 1st green light assessment as tied to new products in 2014.
Job Duties:Ref Labor Contract Agreement
* Achieve fair, timely and transparent T1/T2 new product CBD’s supporting the achievement of PING margin targets without risking supplier relationships.
* Ensure smooth integration for costing system and calculation methodology via timely and transparent unbundled CBD’s in support of each new product (hard goods) – pre 1st green light.
* Represent PING Finance Dept. in key Asia based strategic meetings and projects with a full understanding of initiatives and corporate strategy for seasonal and future business challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
* Achieve role metrics as outlined by CFO PING USA.
* Link costing with PING/T1/T2 DFMEA/PFMEA’s sub process attributes to accentuate early awareness and transparency of attribute costs prior to 1st green light review and sign-off.
* Build strong mutually beneficial relationships and trust between PING and suppliers.
* Analyze and support negotiation efforts in providingnew product (pre-1st green light) CBD’s toPING HQ’s in support of PING new product margin targets.
* Provide PING and suppliers with a strong current and future vision for costing and accurate CBD’s.
* Establish & drive costing standards & strategy with all contract factories across PING brand.
* Actively participate in determining PING global costing direction and strategies.
* Support T2 nomination CBD’s.
* Ensures all costing timelines are met in full across PING hard good products in support of 1st green light timeline objectives and targets.
* Partner with PING Engineering and Materials in understanding FMEA sub process and implications on cost – with a high level of focus on providing awareness to Engineering on options that may exist to maximize margins without sacrifice of product performance characteristics.
* Understand cost implication of T1/T2 processes that may notfunction at optimum levels, to the right rate and quality of output as targeted, in order to offer input tied to cost impact, supporting corrective actions to align with targets, with improvement in costs going forward.
* Develop understanding of sub process costs within T1/T2’s – fixed, variable, profit etc. …
* Understand cost of MRB’s at T1/T2 source of supply.
* Participate in weekly T1/T2 Exec Ops Meetings with T1/T2 and PING Golf Shenzhen staff.
* Is fully aware and informs senior management of all factors political economic fiscal etc. that may affect product costs and impact to PING business.
* Involvement in and active supporter of PING development process to ensure that all products and processes are developed in accordance with costing targets balanced with criteria for performance quality and integrity.
* Maintain authority to sign-off on 1st green light as tied to new product CBD’s.
* Ensures that timely high quality cost information are provided to PING headquarters as required - Includes ad hoc reports, trend analysis, etc…
* Inputs into PING Materials and Supply Chain tied to allocation decisions while understanding that the ability to achieve cost targets are an important factor to PING overall mission.
* Provides feedback and inputs into the design of new systems, products and procedures.
* Works closely with other functional areas and PING HQ ensuring all departments and functional areas work together to achieve PING overall margin objectives.
* Challenges existing costing standards & policies and strives for continuous improvement.
* Conducts research and analysis functions to compliment and support the activities of the PING costing organization.
* Create business intelligence within PING costing team (USA) through comprehensive understanding of the business economics of PING key suppliers and competitors.
* Self-motivated in the spirit of the company mission and fosters collaboration with other departments through active involvement with key product and service functions.
* Should additional costing staff be hired, this role would lead costing personnel ensuring that all are well trained and work with the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.
* Increase awareness and understanding of cost drivers of key business counterparts.
* Provides ongoing coaching to non-direct reports to continually strengthen the organization.
* Be prepared to analyze costing impact related to productivity and efficiency improvements which require product line product mix analysis and localization assessment.
*Other duties related to Process and Design Engineering and Supplier Development activities in Asia as directed by the General Manager, PING Golf Shenzhen., pursuant to strategy and mission set forth by CFO of PING.
Key Relationships:
* Ensures business relationships between PING and assigned T1/T2 suppliers are maintained at the highest level of trust and integrity.
* Internal customers - PING HQ (Finance, Engineering, Materials, Operations, etc…) to ensurecollaborative partnerships are maintained at highest level to achieve PING’s overall margin and timeline objectives without sacrifice of product performance objectives.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
* Strong business sense with integrity and analytical skills
* Strong ability to grasp an understanding of T1/T2 cost attributes within CBD – fixed, variable and vendor profit.
* Strong negotiation skills in unbundling CBD’s.
* Strong ability to understand Engineering product specifications, FMEA’s, etc …
*Strong understanding of process attributes and ability to link attribute options with costs to support timely CBD analysis at PING HQ.
* Strong managerial ability including a strong sense of detail, self-motivated drive, timeliness and organization.
* Highly Computer Literate – Excel with macro’s, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
* Ability to operate and function in factory vs. formal office environment.
* Willingness and ability to travel to USA when requested.
* Guangdong, China based with willingness and ability to travel to Vietnam when requested.
* Fluency in English/Chinese with good verbal, written& communication skills
Requisite Education and Experience - Minimum Qualifications:
* University Diploma or degree from educational entity focusing on Cost Accounting, Business Administration or Engineering.
* At least 5 years of experience in Cost Accounting.
* Experience in Golf, Footwear or related industry.
Proposed Salary/Wage Range: 40,000USD to $65,000USD (Max – Loaded)
