*Position Description
Serve as primary spokesperson for a major business segment, guide the development of communication content, and direct the development of media strategies, co-ordinate with HR professionals for corporate messaging.
* Develop external Public Relations strategies to proactively advance the initiatives of the business.
* Serve as the primary company spokesperson for a major business segment or corporate reputation area to ensure statements and key messages of high sensitivity and impact are provided to the media by improving and protecting corporate and division reputation.
* Directs the development of media and digital strategies for a major business unit segment or corporate reputation area by ensuring strategies are monitored and measured; identifying public relations opportunities, threats, and best practices; maintaining knowledge base of digital and social media technologies; participating in clients' strategic planning; allocating resources toward the development and implementation of media measurement techniques; and reporting the effectiveness of media relations efforts to enhance the company's reputation.
* Develops strategies to ensure proactive speaking engagement for senior executives by developing thought leadership platforms; monitoring and identifying business, social, technological, and communications trends; maintaining business planning knowledge base; identifying, analyzing, and implementing executive communications best practices; and leading the implementation of strategies to leverage executive communications in digital and social media space.
* Develop and implement message frameworks - Writing, editing, and approving communications materials (for example, media plans, press releases, talking points); coordinating approval process with internal clients, Corporate Communications management, and Legal
* Evaluate public opinion on corporate communication;
* Work to ensure that key external audiences understand Walmart’s culture and values;
* Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with national, local, and online journalists and bloggers for proactive and reactive media stories; and mitigating and elevating potential media opportunities.
* Direct the development of corporate communications materials (for example, high impact or highly sensitive press releases, talking points, and media statements) by managing review and approval of messages; utilizing public opinion research; and ensuring messages are consistent with overall strategic corporate messaging framework.
* Work to ensure that key external audiences understand Walmart’s culture and values;
* Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with national, local, and online journalists and bloggers for proactive and reactive media stories; and mitigating and elevating potential media opportunities.
* Manage Public Relations firms’ actions on a daily basis; manage performance relative to expectations and contractual requirements.
* Leads and coordinates external communications in event we have crises or need arises to provide reactive statements to media inquiries.
* Coordinates actively with Regional PR professionals and Regional management to ensure consistency of messages are delivered, that proactive media objectives are being met and appropriate personnel are performing functions of media relations.
* Coordinate with Bentonville Home Office to ensure we are coordinated. Respond to inquiries and provide information requests as required.
* Provide overall direction for a major business unit segment or corporate reputation area of Corporate Media Relations by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes.
*Minimum Qualifications
* Master’s Degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
* 10 years experience in public relations or related field.
* 5+ years experience in Government communications role and 5+ years journalism experience.
* 5+ years experience working in a public relations agency.
* 3+ years experience working in a corporate retail or multinational corporation
* Fluent English, writing skills and public speaking skills.
