job summary
Recruitment, selection, deployment, leadership, coaching, mentoring and development of Global Supplier Development Engineers, driving continuous improvement in resource efficiency and effectiveness within their team.
Determines the objectives, targets and goals for the Global Supplier Development Team and its individual team members. Measures progress and identifies / takes the necessary actions when objectives, targets and / or goals are not met.
Leads the identification and execution of team activities / resources required to support Jabil, workcell, GCM strategies / initiatives. Drives commodity focus on continuous improvement in supplier performance in areas of Cost, Quality, Delivery and Service.
Leads the coordination and synchronization of activities within their respective commodities with those of the other commodity teams. Focuses on driving a “One Jabil” approach.
Monthly communication of team activities, initiatives, progress and trends focused on continuous improvement of supplier performance / capabilities.
Provides leadership to their team and respective assigned sites in the areas of systems, processes and tools.
Drives the compilation and maintenance of a list of site / workcell / market sector / industry requirements for their respective region. Drives the incorporation of these requirements into global systems and processes wherever possible. Drives enhancements to global systems, processes and tools to support changing / evolving global needs / requirements.
Assist and support escalation of supplier performance issues.
Perform the same functional activities as a Global Supplier Development Engineer as needed and/or assigned.
hiring PROFILE
Degree in a Technical Discipline (i.e. EE, ME, QE) with demonstrated technical expertise in one or more commodity fields, 5 to 10 years Supplier Quality / Development Engineering experience plus 5 years experience in a Supplier Quality / Development Management role
Additional certification such as ASQ CQE, CQM, CQA; or ISO Lead Auditor is highly desirable.
Proven problem solving skills and abilities required
Experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services industry preferred
Experienced in working in Design area, with Design Teams, especially DFX reviews
Familiarity with and experience in applying Six Sigma methodologies required (qualified Green Belt / Black Belt preferred)
Prior business /commercial (i.e. purchasing, commodity management) experience desired.
Demonstrated skills must include strong written and oral communication, resource management, problem solving, process improvement, conflict resolution, leadership, motivation, systems and process development / deployment, administration and change management.
Fluent in written and spoken English
Willing to travel
key Responsibilities
Identifies resources required to support existing and future requirements within their respective commodities
Recruits, selects, develops, leads, coaches and mentors Global Supplier Development Engineering resources, focusing on continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
Participates in development of global systems, processes and tools ensuring that market sector and site requirements / needs have been considered and incorporated wherever possible.
Drives deployment of global systems, processes and tools within their assigned sites
Provide input into GCM sourcing strategies utilizing supplier performance data and GSDE feedback.
Driving continuous improvement in supplier performance within the commodities assigned. Ensuring that supplier development activities are identified, initiated utilizing the corrective action process, and progress is monitored / measured through monthly / quarterly scorecard reviews.
Ensure that necessary activities are identified and executed for new suppliers / new products / new technologies that result in performance objectives being met prior to start of production, in support of JTS, Jabil site / workcell, etc… requirements and needs
Provide systems assessment support as needed
Provide support to other commodity teams, as able, for supplier selection, development, issue investigation / resolution, etc… of suppliers within proximity of their home location.
Critical focus areas
Resource Management
Identification of existing and future resource needs within the Global Supplier Development Engineering Team to support Jabil, workcell, site, JTS, and GCM strategies and needs
Recruit, select and deploy Global Supplier Development Engineers ensuring that capable and qualified resources are deployed.
Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to Global Supplier Development Engineers including:
Identification of targets, goals and objectives for the team as well as individual team members
Measurement of progress and initiation of actions when expected progress is not made
Identification of training and development needs for each GSDE and creation and execution of training plans addressing the needs identified
Perform Employee Appraisals per Jabil established policy
Provide input and support to sites regarding:
SQE needs (i.e. numbers, skills / capabilities, roles and responsibilities, etc…)
Identification of training and development needs
Training in Jabil global systems, processes and tools
Systems, Processes and Tools:
Drives the compilation and maintenance of a list of site / workcell / market sector / industry requirements for their respective assigned market sectors, commodities and sites. Drives the incorporation of these requirements into global systems and processes wherever possible. Drives enhancements to global systems, processes and tools to support changing / evolving global needs / requirements.
Drives site compliance to established global systems, processes and tools
Ensures that global systems, processes and tools are communicated to the appropriate resources with the team and sites
Measures conformance and initiates actions when non-conformances are identified
Ensure the development and maintenance of supplier technology capabilities (process and product) in support of current and future supply chain strategies and JTS current and future product technology requirements
Drives the monitoring of potential environmental, legislative, regulatory requirements and determination of their potential impacts to suppliers and Jabil sites / workcells within the respective assigned commodities, sites and market sectors.. Determining and carrying out the necessary activities to ensure supply chain compliance prior to required compliance date.
Ensure the timely and effective communication of changes / enhancements to Jabil requirements / expectations
With the other Global Supplier Development Managers, ensure an effective and efficient global approach and process for component qualification / validation is in place that:
Identifies and communicates the requirements for component qualification / validation to the supplier
Identifies required submission dates and drives on time submissions
Tracks supplier submission dates, progress and approvals
Provides timely review and approval
Ensure upload of approvals to Jabil AMPL
Drives corrective action for issues identified
Determines risk associated with identified issues and determines disposition in a timely manner to support production requirements
Supplier Performance
Lead the establishment of performance targets, goals and / or objectives for assigned commodities based on Jabil, workcell, site, and GCM requirements
Coordination of activities within the Global SDE team, driving focus on new product introduction and sustaining supplier continuous performance improvement
Provide escalation support for resolution of issues once site and GSDE available actions have been exhausted
Development and maintenance of supplier technology capabilities (process and product) in support of current and future supply chain strategies and JTS current and future product technology requirements
