Wood Finishes & Adhesives AkzoNobel is the leading global supplier of wood finishes. Our industrial wood finishes have been the preferred choice of OEMs to beautify and protect wood products. Leading manufacturers of cabinetry, furniture, flooring and building products rely on our stains, glazes, clear coats and primers for the looks and protection they require. In China, we are the market leader with products used in wood furniture. We supply to our China customers from three sites in Dongguan, Tianjin and Jiaxing. Responsibilities:
Purpose of this position: to ensure our products will be developed, produced, and sold within the appropriate stewardship & regulations and compliance system with working with different functions.
Key Objectives/Principal Accountabilities
1.Research and examine product regulations and stewardship issues to determine current and future impact on Asia Pacific product lines and/or the reputation of the company. Summarize information, develop compliance activities and communicate to appropriate parties
2.Work with the Sales, Marketing and RD&I teams to proactively identify compliance requirements, and ensure product compliance in the countries in which products are manufactured and/or sold (e.g. chemical registration, labelling, etc.).
3.Provide prompt and appropriate training to multiple functions within the Asia Pacific organization on key product stewardship or regulatory issues
4.Work closely with regional sites to ensure that our products that can be made, used and disposed of safely 5.Drive product compliance across multiple functions within the Asia Pacific organization and develop opportunities to ensure compliance through prevention, detection, and mitigation
6.Work with AkzoNobel Legal and RD&I Director to manage product related litigation
7.Assist in development of product stewardship and regulatory policies and procedures for the Wood Finishes & Adhesives organization and work with regional sites to ensure systems are implemented properly 8.Represent the region on necessary product stewardship and regulatory committees and/or working groups 9.Have knowledge of the raw material and product classification systems and developing regulations and work with the raw material and formula information team to ensure that compliance systems are updated to reflect regulatory changes
10.Work closely with the raw material and formula information team and support efforts to maintain compliance systems. This will include helping with the review of new raw materials for compliance and data entry in the raw material database
Requirements:
Job Requirements:
1.Bachelor's Degree (Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field or equivalent education & experience)
2.2-5 years of experience working in product stewardship & regulatory affairs or related field. Experience in paint formulation / manufacturing, or closely related areas preferred
3..Ability to work with minimal level of guidance & supervision and adapt to changing priorities
4.Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships
5.Effective decision making abilities and experience responding to regulatory issues or concerns
6.Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively interface with various department staff, plant locations, and regulatory agencies
7.Ability to utilize common workplace and database software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, etc.)
8.Ability to work to the highest levels of integrity Additional Information:
This position will be located in Shanghai or Dongguan, Guangdong.
