THE ROLE
Lead the development and implementation of the communications strategy for Regus across mainland China, primarily through the use of press and media relations activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
? Lead the development and implementation of the Chinese communications strategy for Regus. Ensure it is fully aligned with the global communications strategy and supports the delivery of the company objectives which include country/market specific sales and marketing targets
? Ensure that people at all levels of the organisation within your geographic remit are aware of and engaged in the delivery of the company communications strategy and that specific activities contribute towards a culture of high-quality communications and dialogue with key stakeholders
? Lead, motivate and monitor the relevant PR agency(s) and other suppliers and manage the communications budget as allocated by the Head of Media Relations – APAC
? Ensure that appropriate processes are in place to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the Chinese media relations campaign and formally report these to the Head of Media Relations – APAC and Chinese Country Manager
? As a member of the global communications team help shape the overall communications strategy as well as deliver significant elements of the plan
? Provide objective, valued and trusted communications advice and support to primarily spokespeople but also senior leaders and managers within China
? Support and work with the Group Speaker Programme Manager in the delivery of the Speaker Programme within China identifying local speaking opportunities, developing themes and placing internal and external speakers
? Support and work with the Group Social Media Manager in the use of social media techniques to deliver and enhance awareness and understanding of Regus amongst target audiences
? Support and work with the Group Internal Communications Manager in the delivery of effective internal communications to all Regus employees across China
? Work in conjunction with the Head of Media Relations – APAC on standalone projects as a part of the global communications strategy as and when required
EXPERIENCE
? Degree educated with at least three years communications experience in a fast-paced and challenging media environment
? Strong relationship management and interpersonal communications skills including active listening, assertiveness, flexibility, influencing and negotiating
? Fluent in Mandarin and English
? A talent for spotting a good story and being able to turn that into material which will communicate Regus’ core messages to its target audiences
? The ability to tailor communications programmes to relate to Regus’ wider business agenda and industry issues
? Able to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects
? Strong customer service skills to effectively deal with the competing demands of various stakeholders
? Strong writing skills that include the ability to translate abstract business concepts into meaningful ‘everyday’ language
FRAMEWORK AND BOUNDARIES
The role operates in a complex and geographically diverse operating environment. Regus currently has more than 1,500 centres across 100 countries with more than 1.5million customers served by more than 7,500 employees.
China is one of our most important markets and experiencing strong growth. By the end of 2013 we will have 80 centres across 18 cities; by the end of 2014 we are aiming for 140 across 25, making China our third largest market. With such growth the need to communicate our key messages to our target audiences in the most efficient and effective way is paramount to raising awareness and understanding of our business thereby facilitating sales. As such the delivery of consistent levels of high quality media coverage is critical to business success.
This is an important role and decisions taken by the role holder will be visible at all levels within the organisation. The role holder will interface with senior managers within Regus China and the APAC leadership team in China Hong Kong. They will work within, and help develop consistent group-wide frameworks, standards and approaches to Group Communications.
The role holder will ultimately be responsible and accountable to the Head of Media Relations – APAC for all Communications activity covering China.
