Based in Shanghai, China, the successful candidate will be a self-starter who likes to take responsibility and works best with little supervision. Likes to perform a variety of tasks and have the ability to handle multiple priorities and has previously performed in a similar position. This is a 'hands-on' role requiring a strong technical background and product development experience.

Duties

· Develop and design leading edge electronics packaging designs for dense, high speed processor applications eg consumer, set top box, routers.

· Support Electrical Engineering group for PCB design layouts.

• Interface with a multi-disciplinary group to define system requirements, and design products. Experience in working in medium sized multidisciplinary development teams.

· Apply EMI/RFI theory.

· Agency compliance: familiarity with NEBS, GR-63, etc…

· Interface with interconnect, sheet metal, plastics, heat sink and air mover vendors to keep up to manage cost, quality and functionality.

· Support Manufacturing Engineering and System Builders for System level debug and root cause analysis

· Work with Mechanical team to identify route cause of system failure

· Address DFx, Design for test, manufacture and regulatory requirements.

· Develop and design leading edge cooling systems for high end processor and system applications

· Implement thermal solutions that meet product specifications.

· Implement structural solutions that meet product specifications

Preferences

· Provide structural analysis, at component and system level, using FEA software.

· Provide thermal modelling, at chip and system level, through CFD analysis.

· Perform thermal and air flow measurements

Person Background

Candidates should have 6 or more years' experience in hardware design, possibly well versed in consumer, set top box and router designs. Candidates should have the following essential qualifications and experience:

• BSME or similar
• Strong Mechanical skills required
• Strong hands-on experience in CAD design using PROE, SolidWorks, CoCreate SolidDesigner
• Hands-on designer with plastics, sheet metal, extrusion, and casting design experience

Preference

• Strong user of Flotherm CFD analysis tools
• Strong user of FEA tools and structural analysis techniques
• Knowledge of electrical and electronics system and the system safety issues.

· Be able to communicate effectively [in English] with members of other teams, departments and clients; as a high degree of liaison is needed.

· Good interpersonal skills: Comfortable with technical report writing.

· Team orientated. Work well within a team and/or lead some team members.
