Material Technician
Reports To:
? Material Manager
Other stakeholders include:
? Internal: All business and quality partners in connection with fabric/yarn
External: Fabric suppliers, Garment suppliers
Accountability
The Material Technician is accountable to
? Secure fabric quality during the development and production stage
? Provide technical solutions to the merchandiser team.
? Set up a quality system for mills in order to meet our standards.
? Evaluate and be involve in the fabric supplier’s lab accreditation process
Main Responsibilities
Secure fabric/yarn in development and production
? Make technical judgment on Fabric Technical Data & fabric hangers
? Be part of the commercial decision making from the technical fabric perspective
? Be the contact person for the Quality Assurance, Research and Development, merchandisers and suppliers.
? Follow up Fabric Technical Data to see if it’s aligned with sample yardage test results. If it’s not, analyze the cause and work with Quality Assurance and suppliers to find solutions or make proposal of options.
? Proactively work on material quality with Research and Development and material sourcing responsible to tackle potential issues
? Alert the material merchandisers about any high risk materials in view of the seasonal strategy
? Perform Fabric/Yarn Guideline for Production and Quality Audit
Secure and ensure quality system’s follow up for mills
? Regular contact with suppliers and mills, visit when the issue is critical and there is a need for onsite checking and to provide a solution
? Set up a quality system for mills in order to meet our standards.
? Evaluate and be involve in the fabric supplier’s lab accreditation process
Education and experience requirements
? Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the textile field, specifically in dyeing and finishing will be preferable
? Material and product related education background
? 3 years of multi-national company experience in material or quality / test department would be a plus when combined with mill experience
Knowledge and skills requirements
? Good communication skills
? Keen eye for detail
? Fluency in English, verbal and written
? Excellent Excel skills
