Newton Running Company is forming its team in China (Qingdao), and is seeking a Quality Control and Production Manager to grow our business as a premium brand in technical running footwear. The ideal candidate is multi-skilled, energetic and positive, ideally a US expat, and has previous experience in the sport shoe industry, specifically running shoes. This is a perfect role for a creative and energetic self-starter who can multi-task and is motivated to apply their experience and positive attitude in a start-up enterprise with significant growth potential. The position is based in China at the company’s contract manufacturer with frequent visits to our liaison office in Qingdao.
Summary
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the VP of Asia Development , manage quality of production and inspections of finished product, to ensure that Newton footwear meets quality standards, delivery timelines, and product performance requirements.

Become integrated into every aspect of Newton’s partner factories. Assist and support Newton’s Quality standards & established manufacturing processes, as well as Code of Conduct (COC) to ensure Newton’s objectives are fully implemented with our partner factories.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Production & Quality

? Conducts and manage final inspections of finished footwear, ensuring product meets or exceeds Newton’s quality requirements
? Issues final inspection documentation reports, both to Newton management & to production & quality management teams at Newton’s manufacturing partners.
? Participates & manages any re-inspection or repair procedures at Newton’s manufacturing partners.
? Ensures all final shipments are security sealed & signed and not tampered with in anyway, prior to container loading & supervisors and certifies the sealing of outgoing containers (for both full and LCL shipments), including taking & recording of the container seals.
? Participates in the Product Creation Process (ie: development phase) to ensure the manufacturability of all products, prior to and during the production trial process.
? Liaise with Newton Quality Assurance management team (Aisa & USA) to ensure that production footwear meets Newton’s quality standards and assist in identifying areas of improvement within the Newton supply chain.
? Nurture a close working relationship/partnership with appointed factories delivering exceptional results against the Newton scorecard metrics.
? Manage and develop all factory members of Production QA/QC team to ensure all Newton Key initiatives are met in all areas related to factory continuous improvement, including Newton Best practices, quality standards & Code of Conduct.
? Maintain & update manufacturing specification sheets
? Support the implementation & adherence in Best Practices across the entire Newton Factory base.
? Support the implementation of continued updated Quality systems, to further improve and optimize the Newton Quality process.
? Work with Factory, Vendors and Newton materials teams to assist in establishing a system that ensures timely delivery of quality materials and adherence to quality standards.
? Work with the Newton planning team to ensure on time delivery and reliability targets are met and factory daily throughput activities are kept on time, including the daily monitoring & tracking of production output targets and alert management of any delays.
? Experience in export/import procedures, documentation and reporting is a plus
? Work with Development, Materials and Production team and Factories to prevent potential quality problems and to ensure the product is meeting Newton standards.
? Gradually learn Newton export documentation needs and then provide support in the creating of export documentation & reporting of such documentation to Newton management.
? Adherance to the Newton Running rigorous Code of Conduct and compliance with all US and local laws.
? Personal involvement in the Company’s Social Responsibility goals.
? Participation in community volunteerism and in efforts to reduce the Company’s impact on the planet.

Qualifications :
? University/College degree/diploma or above.
? Production and Quality management experience in footwear (or related field) with a multi-national (ideally performance footwear) branded company.
? Ideally US expat. Exceptional command of English & Chinese language and excellent communication skills (Korean language skills is a plus, but not required).
? Good computer skills in Windows operating environment (Office, Word, Excel, etc.).
? Good management, coaching and teamwork skills
? Experience in export/import procedures, documentation and reporting is a plus
