JOB SUMMARY

The project engineer is responsible for new product development - ON TIME and ON SPEC. He/she shall be accountable for schedule management, general project management, and engineering throughout the tooling, debug, and production stages. He/she should be required to ensure that all new products are produced within the developmental timeline and budget, and also comply with product specifications and all regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead the "back end" of the new development process by working closely with the supplier through the tooling debug, engineering pilot sample testing/review, final engineering approvals, release to production, and 1st shipment.

2. Provide recommendations for engineering design and tooling, as well as offering workable solutions for all manufacturing failures.

3. Review product BOM for accuracy as well as manufacturing cost reduction opportunities (via de-specification and/or material substitution).

4. Obtain and file updated 3D/CAD files from supplier at the tool start milestone and again after engineering debug is complete.

5. Evaluate engineering and pre-production samples to confirm that the samples conform to the product specifications, testing requirements, and regulatory standards.

6. Support customer requests from project kick-off to engineering specification. Lead development process from engineering specification through mass production.

7. Monitor ongoing project schedules and update development progress tracking record.

8. Evaluate manufacturing capability of new suppliers and assist in supplier performance reviews.

9. Travel to suppliers as necessary to ensure engineering debug is completely successfully and on schedule. Other occasional travel may be necessary.

10. Work with Quality team to identify products in need of improvement, and execute engineering changes and corrective actions as necessary throughout product lifecycle.

11. Support Sourcing Team to execute product transfer between suppliers in order to maintain quality, and production flow and to ensure running line products conform to specifications. Support tooling transfer and tooling debug.

JOB REQUIEMENT EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

1. University graduate degree or above in Mechanical engineering or Electronic Engineering

2. Minimum 3 to 5 years work experience in Juvenile industries or Toy industries or Consumer Electronics Industries.

3. Experience in new product development, ability to validate new design, define failure root causes and provide workable solutions.

4. Experience in project management, problem solving, and design trouble shooting.

5. knowledge of any of these would be preferable: plastic molding, metal fabrication, wood fabrication and manufacturing, and/or textile production

6. Experience in electronic toys or Electronics Juvenile products is preferable, has wireless electronics product development experience is big value added.

SKILLS:

1. Understanding of design engineering principles and material properties.

2. Ability to estimate product cost and evaluate cost accuracy of product quote package.

3. Experience in Pro-E, Solid Works or Auto-Cad software (desired but not required).

4. Ability to manage many projects simultaneously and in a timely manner.

5. Ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines. Applicant must work well in both a team environment and independently.

6. Good command of spoken and written English is a MUST.
