Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Philips Consumer Lifestyle Personal Care is setting up new innovation activities for shavers in Shanghai next to their already existing innovation site in Drachten (The Netherlands) and production locations in Drachten and Zhuhai (China). Within the Mechanical Development Department (MDD) the Mechanical Product Developer you translate complex technical issues into uncomplicated consumer products. You work on product development from concept to detailed design in a multidisciplinary team. You always safeguard our trusted values regarding functionality, design and simplicity. In most of our projects you will be the technical counterpart of our internal consumer marketing managers, our industrial designers, our manufacturing engineers (industrialization groups) and suppliers in Eastern Europe or in the Far East.

Responsibilities
· Translating commercial, functional and industrial design specifications into technical concepts on appliance level;
· Developing and engineering appropriate mechanical designs;
· Safeguarding functionality, performance, quality, reliability and manufacturability of products;
· Releasing components, modules and products for mass production;
· Leading, coaching and stimulating the multi-disciplinary team of product engineers and developers within the projects;
· Planning, realizing and steering the mechanical product development and manage the cross functional aspects as a technical project leader;
· Generating input for the innovation roadmap and strategy;
· Identifying gaps and implementing improvements to bring the development approaches to a higher level;
· Your scope is international so some travelling is part of this job.

Profile:
· You have a Master or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
· You have minimum 4-8 years of experience in the field of mechanical (consumer) product development;
· Strong communication skills (fluent in English);
· You are familiar with state-of-the-art development techniques and CAD (UG-NX experience). You have knowledge of the design of mechanical constructions in plastic and/or metal and preferably, good experience with Tolerance analysis.
· FEA/DFM/DFSS/Architecture experience will be a plus.
· You show drive and are quality and cost driven.
· The ability to balance innovation and practical realization;
· Determination in decision making, troubleshooting, flexibility and independence;
· You are a team player and you have good coordination, communication and coaching skills.
