As the Senior BI Business Analyst you will be responsible for working with the various business units to identify, define and document Business Intelligence requirements and coordinate the BI projects:
· Gather, analyse and document business requirements, identify source systems, and define business and transformation rules.
· Input sufficient meta data to provide clarity of data origin and meaning to end users
· Provide advice and assistance to business units on how Business Intelligence (BI) reports may meet their current and emerging needs.
· Conduct workshops with stakeholders to present business requirements, report prototypes and BI strategy
· Translate business reporting requirements into detailed Functional Requirements Specifications
· Develop and maintain BI functional specification document templates.
· Liaise with technical BI specialists, as well as with a broad base of functional users and managers to ensure the BI requirements are clearly understood.
· Manage the BI projects as required
Your background and experience:
Required:
· Any formal project management training/certificate (eg. PRINCE2 or PMP)
· Good understanding of systems development lifecycle (SDLC), application development methodology and enterprise data warehouse and BI principles.
· Excellent communication skill.
· Workshop facilitation and presentation skills.
· Demonstrated experience in gathering and documenting requirements for BI or Corporate level reporting.
· Strong understanding of BI reporting tool features (e.g. BO, Microstrategy or Cognos).
· Technical experience in developing Business Intelligence reports (e.g. BO, Microstrategy or Cognos).
· Analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to research and to apply problem-solving skills to complex technical problems.
· Proven experience in producing functional project deliverables (e.g. business requirements specification, functional requirements specification, requirements traceability matrix).
· Strong knowledge and understanding of structured analysis and technical design techniques.
· Proven experience in working in a team environment and the ability to work autonomously within established methodologies and standards.
· Proven written and oral communication skills and demonstrated effective customer liaison including effective leadership, coordination, influencing, negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
· Ability to manage competing demands of multiple, simultaneous projects.
