Key Areas of Responsibilities
· Defines procurement strategies based on business requirements for the relevant commodity;
· Drives and accumulates all supply base related marketing intelligence and benchmarking for the relevant commodity;
· Manages supplier potential evaluation (technologies and capabilities, strategic segmentation) for the commodity;
· Manages supplier risk assessments including liability Management and charge-backs for the commodity;
· When applicable Leads a team of Supplier Quality Managers related to a x-category supplier;
· Drives strategic cost management (lean / continuous improvement programs / Should-cost models);
· Allocates Product Portfolio to Supplier Manufacturing for the commodity;
· Supports Tier 2 Sourcing for the respective commodity;
· Defines critical components for the commodity;
· Ensures world-class supply base (supplier selection and allocation, standardization, negotiation and contracting, supplier performance rating and
measurement) for the commodity;
· Ensures benchmark supplier relationships (supplier account development, supplier business review) for the commodity;
· Proactively ensures long term capacity and the availability of scarce components for the commodity;
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experienced Commodity Manager
At least 8 years of experience in Procurement, BPO and Supply Chain and ideally will have served for at least 3 years as Commodity Manager
for a global (multi business) technology company. With a proven track record of forming win-win partnerships with suppliers, this professional
should bring both a strategic and “hands on” mindset and a proven track record in change management;
Global Experience
A globally minded leader, this professional will be at home doing global business across BG's. This person will be comfortable with diverse
teams and should be culturally attuned to succeeding in a complex environment;
Business Acumen
Must have the strategic capability to devise short- and long term strategies, balanced by the operational capability to implement them. It is
critical that this individual has general business acumen and can play a key role on the Commodity Cluster leadership team. This professional
must also be highly analytical, process driven and result oriented, with a bias for action;
Executing for results
The successful candidate will be a leader for change in Procurement strategy and process and must be capable of creating sense of urgency.
This individual must have the ability to break down complex problems, systematically identify causes and develop solutions. This includes and
ability to adapt to altering situations, to persist despite setbacks, and to get things done;
Strong Communicator / Influencer
This individual must be highly collaborative and able to work effectively outside the sphere of direct influence, have leadership skills and be
able to communicate clearly with a wide range of constituents in a matrixed organization. In addition, the Commodity Leader must have a
business mind and be capable of interacting with relevant leaders throughout the sector to ensure credibility and collaboration between the
Procurement organization and the business and have a reputation for unimpeachable integrity.
