System Architect for Air

Work Location
Based in Shanghai

Roles & Responsibilities
· Defines and deploys mid and long term architecture roadmaps including the specification of standard platforms and cost price roadmaps
· Responsible for the definition of product architecture before Product Development process start
· Responsible for maintaining product and module interfaces over the lifetime of an architecture/ platform
· Responsible for re-use of standard components
· Maintains close contacts with colleagues within (e.g. Design, Purchasing, Research) and outside Philips, other R&D centers and universities to keep track of new developments
· You are responsible for distributing tasks among engineers, external and internal partners and for managing the dependencies and deliverables in line with the overall project plan.
· Advises in make / buy decisions and supplier selection
· Execution of T&FC’s (Pre-Development Projects)

Requirements:
General
· You have a technical background in e.g. Physics or Mechanical Engineering at a high qualitative level (Master or PhD level). You have a proven track record and experience in a company realizing small household appliances.
· You have experience in one or more relevant fields of competency for consumer products, such as heating & cooling, fluid mechanics, materials engineering, or in mechatronics.

· Technical education in relevant discipline making it easy to understand the product from technical, cost and opportunity perspective
· Ability to analyze the stakeholder environment and needs to achieve common objectives, considering contradicting interests and making the best decisions for the project as well as the business
· Good knowledge of relevant technology and product features
· Excellent communication and coaching skills
· Analytical, creative and abstract thinking capabilities
· Open minded towards other disciplines like Consumer Marketing and companies in the field of product development.
· An excellent communicator and motivator, skilled in managing interpersonal processes
· Able to continuously challenge the status quo, with a strong desire to improve organizational effectiveness structurally
· Cost conscious
· Result oriented, business minded
