职位描述
The work will include working with sales and marketing on the go-to-market plans, with product line management, procurement, sales leader, the global NPD staff and the plant leaders on the product development parameters and product features as well as working on establishing the technical center to service the Asia Pacific R&D/NPD market. This New Product Development Project Manager's work is fundamentally in support of expanding portfolio of flooring products in the Asia marketplace. The position plays a central execution role in defining, selecting and ensuring the manufacturability of our new products.
Responsibilities
l Reviews project proposals and plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
l Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
l Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
l Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
l Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
l Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
l Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
l Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
l Develops and recommends new processes and practices to provide new capabilities that allow us to meet our business unit and corporate strategies.
l Confers with leaders of both businesses to implement and execute project plans.
l Modifies, communicates, and gains approvals for changes to project plans or budgets in a way that resolves project issues and enables completion of projects to meet business objectives.
l This position will have frequent interaction with very senior members of the global flooring operations including the corporate Strategic Project Manager, the VP Worldwide R&D and Managing Director Asia Pacific, among others. It is important that candidates for this position be comfortable interacting with executives as well as shop floor employees who are involved in the production operations. The New Product Development Project Manager also will serves as a member of the Worldwide R&D Organization - AFP and will collaborate with other project, technical and functional leaders ensuring the effective utilization of resources and achievement of all project objectives. Travel may be up to 50%, including some travel in Asia, Europe and the United States.
Qualifications
l We are requiring a university degree, preferably in an engineering discipline such as Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of five years of New Product Development experience. Individuals must be able to demonstrate successful leadership in introducing viable products and mastery of the art of influencing the breadth and depth of new product development owners on the project leadership skills involved in this work.
l Fluency in written and oral communications in both English and Chinese. Is mandatory. Previous experience in working with foreign multinational in China is required.
l Candidates should possess very strong project management skills, high energy level, excellent analytical and technical problem solving skills and a passion for flooring products. Previous experience with flooring products or resilient / vinyl type product manufacturing would be a tremendous asset. Previous experience in supporting manufacturing plant startups would be very helpful.
