This position currently supervises three to five quality engineers who in turn will manage quality processes and conduct product audits across AFP Asia. This position requires routine travel to internal manufacturing sites, and to external suppliers manufacturing and distribution facilities. Occasional international travel within Asia, and to Europe and North America is required. Our expectation is that this is a working manager role with daily interaction with production management and line operators, inspecting, coaching and ensuring the achievement of product quality but balanced with cost containment mandates. It is a position that regularly works with engineers, product designers, product stylers, new product development teams, procurement and product marketing leaders across the globe and will be an instrumental player in achieving the growth strategies for Asia.

Responsibilities

This high visibility & mission critical position serves as the focal point for Asian product quality for the enterprise. The key objectives are defined as:
l Designs, selects and delivers quality assurance capabilities, tools and processes within the Chinese manufacturing facilities, including ISO attainments, and serves as the owner of product qualification and ongoing product quality compliance for OEM products for products manufactured in Asia for various global delivery locations.
l Develops root cause solutions to product quality issues eliminating or minimizing product returns including pro-active product reviews at customer sites.
l Maintains and improves product quality audit processes and protocols across the entire product life cycle and provides leadership to the product quality index system.
l Coaches'staff and plant personnel and suppliers on quality process tools and systems for pro-actively creating an environment of product excellence balanced with appropriate market costs.
l Executes good management practices in developing and managing direct reports, managing budgets, providing department reporting, maintaining quality documentation processes and other similar management responsibilities.


l This position provides the technical expertise to customer service and field sales organizations on product performance claim issues. It includes visiting consumer installation sites as needed, representing quality to provide technical assistance and expertise. The work includes analyzing and interpreting data and
