Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Develop and test optical fiber/cable sensor prototypes
- Characterize performance of Corning and competitive optical solutions
- Optimize glass laser processing methods in support of customer requirements
- Work with US team to create and execute technical strategy for Corning optical technologies
- Support Director of Commercial Technology and Business Units to identify new business opportunities and engage potential customers
- Develop and maintain awareness of Chinese government, industrial, and academic activities/priorities which may potentially offer adjacent applications and markets for optical fiber or other optical technologies of interest to Corning
- Identify and coordinate joint research and development activities with Chinese governmental, industrial, and academic partners

Education & Experience
- PhD in optics, sensors, or telecommunication with 3+ years experience

Required Skills
- Working experience in optical sensors and/or related optical technologies
- Experience with materials science and characterization/measurements
- Strong network within Chinese government, industrial, and academic R&D organizations
- Project management experience
- Fluent in Chinese and English (writing and oral)
- Ability to work in an international team

Desired Skills
- Experience with optical fiber based systems
- Experience with product development and commercialization
- Knowledge of optical communications systems
- Knowledge of laser processing of materials

Soft Skills
- Excellent communication/presentation skills
- Deep technology understanding
